Customer Abuse

Customer abuse has been incredible lately. I truly wish these people would understand that we are doing our jobs. When is the company going to recognize this and take a stance on it? Customers are threatening, verbally abusive, and just downright nasty when they don’t get their will immediately

Had a situation where the dude was "jerking it" to the sound of my voice. Got yelled it because I'm supposed to "ask permission" to end the call, customer abuse is a real thing and Verizon needs to stand behind their employees more

The last time I had a FiOS tech at my house he spent half the time complaining about his job. I guess you id–ts forgot that your product is customer service. No wonder VZ is losing FiOS subs.

I’m searching the job bank, what job title does this semi-retirement job fall under? There is no doubt I would love to spend my last few years contributing to the success of this group. I am very confident I can wave a flag or push a broom, maybe not at the level of some of the seasoned techs, but I’m always willing to learn. Good by Fios, hello semi-retirement .... (what area is this group?) thanks..

I have been placed in a semi-retirement group, I don’t touch any tools other then a flag, maybe a shovel or broom from time to time. Yes it could get challenging, but I’m pretty good at my assignments. If it stays this way, will ride this out hoping to grab 10 years.

I just stay in my truck all day. I accomplish more from there anyways.

I haven’t been the same since my horrific encounter with a customer. The day was dreary, you could feel the tension in the air, I was handed a triple play to install. As I dispatched and hit the call ahead button, the customer answered in a deep, condescending tone, “what do you want?!”. I said hello, and the rude man cut me off “I said what do you want !?” I instantly hung up, and then made the decision to call my manager and tell him to give the job to someone else, which he did, and I did nothing the rest of the day. This happens almost everyday, these customers are just straight out rude.

Management does NOT care. Had a customer threaten to track me down and beat me. Manager did nothing as was her usual. Wouldn't even get involved. Not all managers are like that but they still coddle non performers and ineptitude.

Luckily I ran into the guy in to the guy in a local store. Being 5 ft nothing, he put his head down and said nothing. Angry leprechauns do exist.

Customers refuse to wear facial coverings. Customers wait 6 months for copper cable repair

If you work outside, it’s easy to ignore the rare abusive customer.

A great response to an abusive customer is to walk away, go get a bagel, and listen to the radio.
Works like a charm, much better than engaging them.

Stop letting yourself be bullied and abused.
I was a tech in the 1990's in a very wealthy area.
The answer is real simple.
If a sub is abusive, remove yourself from the situation before it escalates further, and advise your foreman.
On the very few occasions that I have ever had to do this, my foremen always had my back 100% of the time.
Everyone understands there are lunatic kooks out there. You get paid to do a job, not to be abused by irrational individuals. Management realizes this too.
