Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Outplacement is bullish!t

I signed the papers over two weeks ago, and I still haven’t heard from Right Management, the outplacement service part of the separation package.
It goes to show, once again, that the company is either full of empty promises or that, as usual, they were unprepared to execute.

You have to give your contact number to your supervisor who then passes it along. If you don’t do this, you will be waiting.

I was laid off last year and received this "Service" with my package. It was beyond worthless to me. If you are 60+ years old and have never made a resume/LinkedIn page then you may get some value from this. Anyone else is wasting their time.

Don’t wait for your supervisor to initiate the outplacement service. It’s not on their list of things to do as part of the separation. Make sure you register and if they tell you that you need to provide HR information contact your HR case manager. If you don’t know that contact your supervisor does. Make sure you have your supervisor email before you leave for your PIL.

Go to their website to start the registration process. Within 24 hrs, they will likely ask for HR contact information to verify. Took 3-4 days from going to website to getting full access.
