I wholeheartedly agree with @2dmd+16hI7EZo (three down from this one). In fact, it could be win-win. Make it a "lump sum only" buyout. Gets us off their books and the Ford world has balance. But that won't happen. At least not with engineering/design. Mgr's claim they are already short. Problem is, it's a false claim. It's really more about control. Programs are getting cut, this year will be ugly. They could easily loose 10% without a hiccup. Wouldn't be surprised if there was in-fighting amonst the chiefs once again. The bottom line is we don't matter.

@1woq+16hI7EZo, you sound really angry. And maybe a little paranoid. Do you really believe the entire world is plotting with the “left”? Since no one seems to benefit from this I can’t think of a motive for such wide spread “plotting”. The pandemic is real and it is k–ling people and the economy. I know a number people who have had COVID 19. One person passed away and two were hospitalized for several weeks. They were both afraid they were going to die.

Hopefully we’ll get control of this pandemic before the global economy is completely trashed. With any luck Ford will survive to see better days.

Your Ford pension is safe and covered by independent organization of Federal Government called the PBGC. For most the pension is fully covered. The exact cap is determined by your age when Ford goes bankrupt.

Your interest income part of your 401k is NOT insured. You should focus on moving your 401k.

Ford would like you to take the lump sum and get your pension off the books.

I for one will take retirement or firing package, they are basically the same anymore, anyway. In fact, I can't wait....let them fire me, then I get the severance package, where as if I leave or early retire on my own I don't get it. Yeah, a little selfish, I admit......but after they have screwed with us for the last three years and all the unpaid overtime I have worked for over 20 years, I don't really care. Beside, the Autoextremist guy gives Ford less than 10 years of being independent before the family "sells" to someone else....and I agree. Word of caution - if you have a pension, when you go take the lump sum!

Jac the knife was bad but we weren't heading into a world wide shut down of the global economy at the hands of lying leftist doctors and we weren't being taken over by rioting leftist crybully totalitarians at that time.

So I don't think the Nasser days were worse.

When Ford goes bankrupt you probably won't think the Nasser days were worse.

Does this mean retirement packages are back on the table?

Times are bad, but I think the Nasser days were worse. That guy ruled by terror and turned people against each other with his Jack Welsh inspired leadership philosophy. If Farley is anything like Jac, hold on to your hats, this sitcom could turn into a horror show real fast.

Agree. Most of these newer hires have no idea of what Hot H*ll they are in for.
