Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Incompetent pool of employees, supervisors, managers, VPs and Executives. It was long coming!

Inside observers have seen complete and utter degradation of this company through prolonged hiring, recruiting and promoting some of the worst talents (sorry I meant talentless jerks).

If you ever heard talkative employees, supervisors, managers and VPs talking without the paycheck goggles over your eyes, you may have quickly realized how brainwashed, talentless robot-like and deceiving some of these people could be. Things jerks will do for a fat paycheck! Just look for what some execs are talking about in the public media even now – creating illusions and perhaps fraudulent pictures in terms for caring fo technology!

Do these current events really surprise you given how things were evolving for a decade plus? Everyone put a blind eye and cheered the same people and behavior when oil was $100 and everyone's pockets were greased.

I was ranked Outstanding this year (and always highly ranked in previous years) and even I think this is bullc-ap. I’ve seen coworkers let go who were the best in their team. Some who got PIPed deserved it but many who should have been fired years ago are still here. That angers me and I’ll be out of here the second I finish what I want to accomplish at the company.

The cancer on the 6th floor started with Mike Brown and his idea of the wonderful campus. A place where if a tornado was heading towards the campus, you’d have to hide away from the windows. Oh wait! There are windows everywhere! Run for the restrooms ladies and gents! Then there was the common cold. Where if your desk mate were sick, you were surely to be next. Oh geez! Now we have a pandemic and no one can be at the office but, that’s ok we’ll work from home. Oh wait, you’re not working because you’re taking care of kids. And wait, your Supervisor is already upset that you get PPTO so, your ranking has dropped because you were needed and you were at home helping with the kids. Well, then comes into play the wonderful new ranking system that Bob Catron formulated before his departure. Oh yes, he sat on the 6th floor too. Now you’re on a PIP because you’re not “visible” enough and you’re a poor performer. Can it get any worse? Why yes it can! ExxonMobil is no longer going to match your savings. Great ideas come from the 6th floor so much that continue to get their bonuses. Oh, let’s not forget those cacklin’ hens of Admins on the 6th floor. They look like they just rolled out of bed and can’t answer a damn question about anything. Clean house! Get rid of those truly underperforming employees! Start with the 6th floors and Darren Woods! And instead of completely taking away the savings match, why not reduce the % and quit sending our jobs overseas. We will become a third world country if this continues!!

Management is like boiling milk - the scum always rises to the top.

This is what happens with XOM's philosophy of not hiring from the outside for leadership / executive roles. The rot rises to the top from within.

As a recent retiree after a 40 year career, one of the comments on this site surprise me. I watch the biggest company in the world fall in front of my eyes. My biggest regret is that I didn’t listen to my own complaining. It’s all a rah-rah environment, pats on the back and no transparency. They are so afraid of hurting someone’s feelings. The only hope of recovery is to find a hard a– CEO like Lee Raymond and let him act or bring in an outsider and rid the 6th floors of the Spring Campus of EVERYONE and start from scratch. There is a cancer growing at that level nd soon it will choke out the remaining life!
