Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

One phone at desk does not work well.

One phone, three lines coming in. More than half the time the other two people waiting for someone to answer the phone hang up. "Is the tv of the discount shelf still there?" "Do you have a black shirt with the little fish on it in 2x." These are not questions Ask Sam can answer. We have to leave the desk and go look. And no, before you scream for us to radio merchandising or clothing - those workers aren't available to us.

And lots of times a member, usually an older member, wants us to call the credit card company for them, then the credit card company wants to talk to the member. The phone lights up, but we can't answer it, because a member is talking to synchrony bank.

Why can't you see, one phone at the desk with three lines is ridiculous. Another phone can't cost that much money.

The desk design would work if they replaced the register with a cash drawer linked iPad and if it had all the functions that the register can do then we would be in business with that setup.

The second thing is that damn phone. Hell when we had three phones they wouldn't be answered. So having 3 or 1 is no difference. They need a better IVR system to maybe hiring a few people just to answer the phone. Like a one person call center. Tbf, the one time I called a Walmart it was similar, forever for anyone to pickup.

Let them take the register away, they'll have a riot on their hands. Tell them go ahead.

We have the same problem here. Food stamps won't go back on card if you don't use the register. Mix food stamps and cash and the tablet won't even let you go through the motions. And try to tell a member the cash they paid for an item is going to them on a gift card! O. M. G.

Home office's idea of a desk is a joke. This isn't a membership desk. It's doesn't help anyone.

Management says we are in the bottom in the are for using the register more than iPads.. but the iPads won't process some scan and go transactions, EBT, and a lot of our members still use cash and check. Management has threatened to write us up if we use the register, and don't have a COS to sign off on why we used it, and management has also threatened to take the register away.
It's a hot mess

The debit readers broke on our tablets - all our tablets. Every transaction involving money goes through the register. It's a cluster cluck. This desk set up only serves to anger members.

One register, one phone isn't working and it's never gonna work. Whoever thought this up never worked at the desk. We answer one call, three go unanswered.

We were lucky to tell them when we moved to the pod station to leave 2 phones!
But having only 1 pos register doesn’t work well either ties up the lines cause the iPads don’t fully work
