The workforce reduction or PIP meet a general definition for layoff, but not the contract defintion in union contracts. Management did not use the term layoff because it scares unions. Call it a "limited layoff" for those who do have contracts. Executives, MPT and Office Clerical

Quit complaining about the definition of what it's called.
Who cares what it's called. Tesla is doing the same thing to their employees, so it's entirely within us law to do so

It next few weeks it will be managements turn to to get the axe. Doesn’t make sense to keep around all these highly compensated people that all they do is stewardship and no REAL work
Who cares what it’s called. Some people will not have jobs and that’s probably a good thing for the long term health of company. When you get too heavy, it’s time to get on the treadmill.
It’s not a lay-off until we pay consultants to come up with a fancy project name and some sweet branding.
