So I was laid off last round (2+ years ago) and was in marketing as well. I started as a Sr Manager and left a Sr Director. The biggest problem I faced in staying in the Portland area was many companies assumed my Nike salary would mean I was outside of their pay scale. Also, Nike got me a fair amount of interviews but if changing the type of company prepare for a lot of “we hired someone from within” or “someone with experience in (whatever) field.”

Now I did some research and narrowed it down to 2 different industries that interested me, had growth potential and to some extent were more stable employment opportunities (Nike had 3 layoffs in my 10 years). From there I was hired in one of those industries, albeit at a lower position. Yes I make less money BUT, I have dinner with my husband and son every night, I do not get work emails, calls or texts 24/7, and when I take a vacation I am on vacation.

Start making a plan and networking. Set up coffee or Zoom meetings with people in other industries that intrigue you, you will be very surprised.

Best of luck.

@1paq if you ask laid off people these past few months, I think you'll discover they're not being sarcastic in the least. It's the reality of the pandemic economy.

Do sh– ton of research on whatever industry you're going to be trying to get a job in. Odds are you won't get hired at the same level as you were at Nike, but having Nike on your resume will open a lot of doors. Something I didn't learn until I started looking for jobs outside of Nike is that pretty much everyone knows Nike's reputation, so I never really had anyone question why I was leaving.

Depends on your skill set. You pretty much can go to any industry; the question is: what type of role do you or can you assume? For example, are you in marketing, sales, IT, HR, Supply Chain, and risk assessment and compliance? Are you a Project Manager? Scrum Master? A Developer? QA and automation? DevOPs perhaps?
