If history repeats, then around the end of October you will get a meeting invite from your ED/HR on a Wednesday / Thursday and then on Friday you will know who was "impacted.". At the end of the day telecom is a sinking ship with respect to growth - 5YEE, 6YEE or whatever - at the end of the day it is just a dumb pipe that is a commodity. Apple, Amazon, Google, Facebook, Netflix - look at their revenues and market caps. Then compare that to the network operators. It's a no brainer as to what entities are capturing the lion's share of the revenues. If I were under 40 and looking to make some money I wouldn't be looking to work for a telecom.

I suspect the OP has a hidden agenda in that silly post, that of provocateur. Yet the rank-and-file didn't fall for it. Nice try troll.

most managers can tell when word gets out... the poor performers all of a sudden start working harder.

So what is new? This is the continuation of the Verizon "home for the holidays program". It happens every year.
