Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Virtually coming

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.businessinsider.com/retailers-like-macys-adidas-are-turning-to-virtual-fitting-rooms-2020-8%3famp My take is fitting rooms get the most things stolen. So with this you will need less loss prevention people. My prediction is lp will change in the next year and not for better

The retail AP/LP is in a constant state of change, in particular with technology. Most retailers will cut the security/maintenance staff when cuts are needed, then any position that does not have direct customer interaction. Macy*s (IMO) won't be spending any money towards the security division. At this point in the game its about driving the expense down, and accelerating store closures from the 3 year plan.

In a few years you should self more self check out 's in stores like Target and Walmart ( they have stores now out West) that are total self service. They have one person assisting the customer at the lanes. Amazon stores have carts that 'scan items as you place them in the cart' to help prevent shortage. The question is how high is the shortage and what will be acceptable as it relates to sales?

After you answer that question, then what preventative measures can be taken before you toss payroll at it? Shortage is the a objective number similar to sales. What is the highest percentage in a given environment, and how do you reduce it effectively and with minim cost.

Lastly, there is no privacy in practicality any environment. Hotels, Hospitals, Malls, Stores , Public Streets you name it you are being recorded almost from the time you leave your home. And you stopped being recorded from there when you left via your Ring Doorbell.

If anything the added tech will aid in loss prevention at the cost of the customer's privacy.
