Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

This place is affecting my health

All the stressing in the past several months has pushed my blood pressure sky high. I'm not sleeping well, I'm not eating well... I honestly think quitting and just getting a job flipping burgers would be better for me right now than this place. Who'd have thought a few years ago that McDonald's would look like a better alternative to Exxon...

Sounds like someone needs to take some short term disability for a month or six

FMLA? At ExxonMobil?? I knew a colleague who asked for a leave of absence to care for a dying family member and was ignored by the Manager. The written and verbal request were shrugged off by the Manager. This employee exhausted all vacation hours to care for the family member and worked all hours including weekends to stay afloat of the work. It was only AFTER the family member passed away, did the Manager express concern and offered to return the vacation hours. Management was then able to check the box that stated, “did you ask how the employee was doing”. YES. HRs response, “a** covered”! I’ve often heard that it takes a certain type of person to be in Management at ExxonMobil and they were right. You have to be heartless. Thankfully this employee was able to recover from the trauma and left the Company. It’s not worth the stress and health problems. So glad I left too.

@1jhp if you are PIP'd and let go... Are you still a professional? Seems to me like that makes you unemployed

Face it, you screwed up. You trusted ExxonMobil. My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.

Flipping burgers? I am someone that has been PIP’d and have similar issues with health and sleep but even I have trouble believing this post is real. Looks like someone trolling.

Need to grow up, two choices:

  • either work hard mind your own area, ignore what is going on
  • if you are in the bottom third, look for a job while you have one.

EM will come out of it fine always has before; if you truly cannot handle the stress you need to find another job you can handle, but I think you will find McDonalds workers do have a lot of stress and do not make near the money you do, which will cause stress.

Worked fast food prior to join EM. Can tell you the grass is not greener working in that industry.

If I had enough passive income coming in I’d join you!
