This is very useful forum for employees to openly share information. Over the past few days I've noticed a large trend with people turning on each other and putting each other down. I agree that we should have some professional debate. At times people that make tasteless comments need to be reminded of their lack of empathy. But if this forum goes downhill much further people will quit seeing it as useful and will stop coming. Please preserve our invaluable resource!

It is doubtful that you can speak for the entire corporation. I know plenty who were not PIP’d and have the same feelings as the people on these boards. Some of them are here waiting for the next lay-off.
There are people on this post saying terrible things about their coworkers that are going to be back here during the mid cycle performance evaluation wondering what happened.

The best part of this company were supposed to be the people who work here. The way you people talk to each other on here is shameful. If this is representative of the company employees, it’s no wonder they are hemorrhaging people!
Sooo... Why does your job need to exist then? Sounds like a lot of goofing off during meetings.
With all our meeting now on zoom, I make sure my camera is adjusted and just check the site during them instead. I also get a lot of tic tok in too just waiting for the never ending meeting to end. One ear away from the camera and no one can see my AirPod ;)

Quick update from the author of this post: Please note as of this writing at 9:19 AM Central Time on 12 Aug 2020 I've received 8 "negative" votes on my topical post above and 7 negative, immature responses below. Based on this strong correlation (between "negative" votes and responses) I think it's safe to say we have a resident troll issue on this site, but they've generally identified themselves on this post with their common writing style. Please study the exhibits below. I think they're easy to identify now and should be ignored. Just my thoughts to help anyone else that thought about abandoning this site due to the noise and invalid negativity caused by the trolls.

I bet the jerks pointing decorum and the real trolls here are the incompetent, low intellect, yes men management staff nodding yes to their bossed and clinging to their jobs, fake ness and shemelessness.
Go ahead and defend yourself as it is only fair since that you as well as everyone else knows that if ExxonMobil get rids of such incompetent meeting creating and attending sycophants, they will not be hired by any company.
Real Yammer is truly representative of Exxon culture and its ugly underbelly -warts and all.
There is a need for truth telling, and also -it seems- a need for bullies to act out.
Yammer is for cheerleading and toxic positivity, while Real Yammer is a forum for real discussion.
Managers should be wise to pay attention to what’s said here, especially now that they got rid of anyone who ho can provide honest and actionable feedback.
Since very few of them have their ears to the ground, they are otherwise flying blind.
I doubt those making distasteful comments were ever employed by ExxonMobil.

This sight is an echo chamber of similar thoughts and distaste. Which, as a corporation, is not the majority. Again, this is a support group of similar anger and thoughts versus what the majority think.

It's heartening to know that those not currently affected by this layoff are attending to the site.
Yes - among these are trolls - some XOM, some not - but certainly many XOM managers/monitors are also attending.
Whether truly 'anonymous' site or not - I've gotten some good perspective on the company culture and both its immediate and steady decline.
But you are right - not anything goes.
This site is about people whose life and careers have been affected by the cold hand. The dead hand of undeserved profit. So - yes - empathy is a factor.
But the biggest factor is the fraud and illegality of this activity.
Let's focus on that, hey?
