More cuts coming to the Chow Org

There's a rumor floating that more cuts are coming to the Chow org, as soon as last week of September. We already took a huge hit this last round. Anyone have any details on numbers or if this rumor is true?

What’s left under chow is folks that are oversight over IBM , very little internal development .. if at all , nothing more than CRUD applications.

"Of course, all this does is turn T into a big fat dump pipe and starts the race to the bottom price wise for big fat dumb pipes. T is in a precarious position with their debt so they can't cut prices too much or they won't be able to cover the debt, dividend, etc. and T-Mobile and Verizon know this. "

The last time I checked T-Mobile is a big fat dumb pipe. With contiguous 5G NR 600MHz coverage Nationwide. Aside from getting an injection of $5B Cash and gifted a Nationwide AWS spectrum footprint. It appears that they only spent their capital investing in their relevant core competency. Imagine if they didn't just get $5B to do that, but rather had been given 37 times that $5B capital figure to do so.... Well done. As in stick a fork in it.

What is chow’s organization doing with FirstNet , most work is already done , all that are left are paper pushers , 10 layers of account and product team and project managers.

They should look at using these people somewhere else in the company

It’s not a rumor, OP. Chow said it herself in her town hall on Monday: “The majority of work force changes will be announced at the end of September.”

She was talking fast and may have meant “by the end of September.”

@jqg+16pY9kik - "Not sure I understand this. "Workforce 2020", I thought we all were supposed to have aspired to, taken all kinds of training, and become developers? No?"

That was the old strategy under Donovan. The new strategy under Stankey is to shut down internal development and outsource and/or partner with vendors for the apps they need. If you are not in wireless (5G, FirstNet. etc.), fiber, or media, you could be facing a surplus in the future.

Not sure I understand this. "Workforce 2020", I thought we all were supposed to have aspired to, taken all kinds of training, and become developers? No?

the 2020 pan is obsolete, Re badging to Techmahindra, IBM and Accenture will achieve the instant developer, so there is not need in Empowering you with Udacity silly courses.

the 2023 employee rationalized engagement plan,
the 2025 Employee emotional intelligence equilibrium pan

and the 2030 consolidation & integration horizontal platforms plans.

If you are in a group under Chow that builds applications, you've got a huge target on your back. T doesn't want to develop applications anymore, the new direction is to partner with someone that does and cut the internal headcount.

While they sunset applications, they'll be laying off other people in Chow's group that supported the sales and business side too.

Of course, all this does is turn T into a big fat dump pipe and starts the race to the bottom price wise for big fat dumb pipes. T is in a precarious position with their debt so they can't cut prices too much or they won't be able to cover the debt, dividend, etc. and T-Mobile and Verizon know this.

Good luck if this describes you. Start working on your resume now. Layoffs will be ongoing until 2023 at least as the apps sunset and customers move to new vendor platforms.

If you're looking at sheer vulnerability momentum, fast talker Chow's Org is for you.
these jobs arguably slightly higher risk to disappear in thin air.

I am in Chow’s org and we were told by the management that within 30’days we would know who was safe and who was let go. That was back o. June 30. It is well over 30 days. So I believe it is coming very soon. We are not over with the first round
