Lost Job due to COVID-19

Allstate is evil........ Most people lost their jobs across the world during this time due to COVID-19 and get unemployment pay for COVID_19. This is understandable and sad workers who lose their income as a result of COVID-19 pandemic between protecting their health, putting food on the table, paying for their medication or caring for a family member..

But In an attempt to cut its costs, major Allstate Corporation is planning to lay off thousands of employees. .In a recent video conference call, Allstate CEO Tom Wilson told senior team leaders that “thousands of jobs” at all levels of the company’s operations will be affected by the layoffs. Not because of COVID-19 but to cut cost . They did this at a time during a pandemic and told us in the video this was a good time. Really .. This company is not hurting at all In 2019, Allstate generated revenues of approximately 44.68 billion U.S. dollars. Their revenues have been trending upward since 2008 when their revenues amounted to 29.39 billion U.S. dollars. In 2019, Allstate generated revenues of approximately 44.68 billion U.S. dollars. But I can't get over why will they think this is a good time when everyone is stress and some lost love ones due to COVID-19 a time if you try to find a job it will be hard.

So why do people want to depend on employment base health care again.

To the poster below, that might be true about the many layers, but from where I sit it doesn’t appear those jobs are on the block. So many front lines customer facing employees are getting cut and they are the ones who truly add value. And the processes that are added to supposedly make things more efficient, do anything but ( yes India I’m looking at you)

I'm sorry, but Allstate Corp has so many layers upon layers of employees that bring zero value to the business, employees that are not educated for the job they are doing, employees that are making big money for doing very little. Allstate should have done this 10 years ago. Perhaps we wouldn't be losing so much market share to Geico and Progressive if we trimmed the fat and unneeded payroll. Our rates are uncompetitive because our expense ratio is entirely too high. Progressive also makes billions of dollars, yet they manage to have competitive rates because they don't have thousands of employees that don't do much of anything. I'm hoping I'll finally have a competitive product to sell again, something I haven't had since the late 90s, early 2000s.

Now if only we could dump the life insurance unit and let an actual life insurance company handle those needs for consumers, and stop the pet projects like appliance warranties and car sharing we might actually become a competitive, nimble company that can gain market share again (which, by the way, will also provide new job opportunities in the future)

It's not COVID for Allstate - it's Transformative Growth.

They do not care about their employees, no major corporation does. We are all numbers and are easily replaceable. This is capitalism in America. Do your job while you are here but always be ready to move on/find another whether it’s to benefit yourself and your family or because you get laid off. This is how the world works now, the days of company loyalty/retirement/pension are gone in the private sector.
