Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

LHH Outplacement Services

Got laid off at the end of July and heard back from LHH 2.5 weeks after starting the career search process with them. A "career transition" counselor called me and was incredibly condescending, and then wanted to schedule a kickoff appointment in ten days...almost a full month after I signed up with them. Has anyone had luck with this outplacement service Honeywell is providing? They seem like a waste of money, and their job board just has postings from indeed.com.

LHH is what you make it. No, they will not find a job for you. But their webinars and tips on Linked In and networking are priceless especially if you haven’t job searched in a while. You also get free access to Linked In Learning courses and D&B Hoover’s. In my district there are also live Zoom support and networking groups as well as some 1 on 1 counseling.

The fault in getting started is with Honeywell delays in authorizing it. You have to wait until your revocation date for the severance has passed. The other problem is that LHH is getting overwhelmed not only with Honeywell but tons of other candidates getting let go all at the same time. It’s ridiculous that employers are using the Covid pandemic to reorganize and get rid of older workers. I rarely if ever see sorts in under 40 on any of these calls.

I will take advantage of as many services as I can through LHH for the simple reason that it costs Honeywell money. If you are smart, you will do the same, Land a better job at a competitor and put Honeywell out of business

I agree completely with the last person who posted. They have been very helpful and informative.

Two thoughts: 1) LHH has been great, you get out of what you put in. They have a lot of great services, webinars and time with a consultant. 2) HON does not have to do this, they chose to do it, there is no regulations to offer outplacement.

They reached out to me almost TWO MONTHS after being laid off. I went to a "fast launch" meeting recently, but have not heard back from them after that.

After registering through LHH I received an email stating that the process has started, after they received the information from Honeywell they assigned a career counselor who contacted me via phone call and email. A branding person also contacted me to help rewrite/reformat my resume, and to rewrite/reformat my LinkedIn profile. I never had a meeting with the branded person since my resume didn’t need too much tweaking. They will offer 2 reviews, then if more tweaking is needed, the career councilor will help in the completion.

The career counselor was a tremendous help, and is given a 60 day contract (starting after they receive the information from Honeywell). There are nanny resources on their site that can be utilized after the contract expires.

I was never contacted via LinkedIn, and was the initiator in sending the invitation to the branding person and career counselor.

This is a free resource provided by Honeywell, to not use it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

I also received my first connection from them via LinkedIn. Thought it a bit odd, but it doesn't cross a line with me. I will see what they can do with my resume to get it through ATS filters.

Job hunting has changed a lot in the past decade. I actually discovered my Honeywell job through a common interest group on LinkedIn, and the hiring team took into consideration the information I shared with that group, so I will target that same LinkedIn group for my next incarnation and will freshen up some of my skills with their online learning offerings. Happy open-minded job hunting!

You got a call? I was RIFd end onf July. Yesterday I received a LinkedIn connection request stating they were my LHH Rep. And let's connect to get things started.

Seriously? You contact me via Linkedin? WTF

Agree about tailoring resumes, and LinkedIn stuff except "branding" can be BS exercise.

I found LHH extremely helpful. I haven’t been through the job search/interview process in awhile, so my resume needed reformatted so that it doesn’t get bypassed by the electronic searches that are used to weed out applicants that don’t have the proper skill set. The rewrite of my resume and LinkedIn profile alone were worth the time invested. They also have a lot of resources that you can still use after the 2 month contract is up.

I'm using it for their retirement services. But I have to say, that whole BRANDING statement is a bunch of BS for engineers. I did a lot of interviewing for engineers and not once did I hear or give a f**** for anyone's branding statement.

The best is when other HON divisions ask for my resume. ReallY?? You think I will move to middle-Bumf*** Kansas or Decrepit Desert Sandia? On my own $$?

Got laid off. Had suspicions, but found out your mindset is TOTALLY wrong! I was doing several things wrong and getting a job seach education with thousands of $! Lots of pointers, lots of webinars resources, networking, etc. If you think LHH is a waste of time... you either don’t know how to use a computer or your god awful lazy with putting in work to help yourself. LHH has taught me the skills to get a better higher paying job. Shame on you you lazy SOB. Your not smart for throwing this gifted benefit away!

Honeywell only does this because they 'have' to. They don't care.

They contacted me about a month after I was laid off and I said where were you when I was needing the help? They couldn’t answer so I told them to pound salt.

If it costs Honeywell money, I'd run out the clock as much as possible. Make it cost them as much as possible.

I had the same feelings and your gut is correct. Waste of time and money. Its like group counseling with no real help in job placement. I found indeed and my states unemployment counselor to be a better use of my time.
