Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Not fair

I think they forget that Merchandisers (Floors associates, Deli, freezer, Produce & Maintenace) has been working overtime to help keep the product on the floor during this pandemic. How inconsiderate of them to not include them. Without us, how can members shop with no product on the floor?
Additionally, they only created a few positions for merchandisers to do some layout & endcaps changes for 15 an hour leaving out already certified forklift drivers & merchandisers who been with the company for years. Thay shows you right Home Office don't know what they are doing.

Then you have maintenance associates who are given daily cleaning lists to help sanitize the club during this pandemic not to mention they are thrown everywhere to do everything like they are back up associates for other departments. Yet do you see others cleaning up puke, p–p on the floor, Chicken grease, chemical spills? They have been screwed over twice. First, they made maintenance a specialty then gave raises to the other specialty departments leaving maintenance out & dry. Now they have done it again... It's clear they don't appreciate maintenance. If you already had lazy maintenance or your club is short-staffed on maintenance watch their productivity becomes worst or if you get any new hires for maintenance at all. Because at our location no one never applies for maintenance.

I also find it funny they had it seem like Fresh was a top priority for raises & wanted only to invest in fresh but now is giving the same pay to the front end... Why don't they just raise everyone at 15 & go from there? Perhaps this was just a power move because cashiers make more at other places than Wal-Mart & Sams

Merchandisers can't apply for a front end job with the new roles. Now not sure about carts but cashier or member specialists they can't. So very sorry but hang in there I heard ur raise is coming very soon.

This exactly why I dont "over achieve" or stay later when asked. If they want to give merchandisers basic pay, then they get basic work.

I don't understand why you don't put in for one of the jobs that pays more. Surely if you can be a merch, you can be a cashier, or cart person, or something else. Why stay in a low paying job if you don't half too.

Just leave Sam’s. it’s the best decision I personally ever made. After 20 years making less than $20 an hour I decided to leave. Company I work for now, didn’t know me personally or my work ethic, only what was said in my interview, and yet they started me at $25 an hour and appreciate me and the work I do. I can’t believe how much of my life I wasted working at Sam’s Club. You’re worth more and deserve better. Don’t make the same mistake I made. Just my personal story and opinion. Take it as you will. It’s your life at the end.

This is honestly why I dont do overtime when asked. They become shorthanded and then dangle the word overtime in front of you like it's some magical pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. You are only important and needed when it benefits them. Other than that you are nothing to them, or this company as a whole. I will work, but after 8 hours I'm done. I stopped busting a– since I'm not making what I should be earning and being a longtime associate at that. Sorry Sam's, my life dont revolve around you.

At least you got overtime which no one else in the club gets.
