The best comparison that I can make to my 4 years with AT&T is the Netflix series, Stranger Things. Prior to my time with AT&T, I had worked with several other Fortune 50 organizations. All had their idiosyncrasies and blind spots. AT&T, however, takes first place in odd behavior. Working with AT&T is like a journey through the alternate universe of business decisioning. Logic and reason are inverted. Real and imagined are reversed. And everything is clouded in a fog of irrationality that is persistent and palpable. It truly is the Upside Down.

AT&T was as, and potentially is, a great company. We just have horrid leadership. With luck, the current regime will get kicked to the curb, and maybe we can rebuild this place to its former glory.
No need to worry about the Demogorgon, it is the AT&T executives that eliminate voice of dissent, and maintain the false reality where nothing is wrong and we are all winning.
