Grade 10 and above in US will be targeted

Just heard from senior director that higher grade individual contributors and middle manager in USA will be affected the most. Many dead weight VPs are leaving Cisco to join Amazon and Google cloud and support divisions. Some deadweights are making lateral internal moves.

uhm grade 10 money is entry level money anywhere else, I was a 12 and added 100k to my total comp, so wouldnt call it senior money, unless you are a 13 and getting good stock, the base pay is horrible. once they went MMR , you lost raises and promotions, so might as well stay on cruise , take ER if offered or wait for LR , then go get a job that makes you do stuff.

I was LR'd years ago. Is is tough going through it but am thankful for my time at Cisco. They treated me well financially and the LR payout was great. I do feel like I earned every dollar.

We took the LR money and paid off all debt across the board and took much less time consuming (and paying) jobs, but are happy making up for lost time.

Good luck and if you go, it can be a tough trip going through it; but a good trip all and all.

After ER, LR will take place. Q1 revenues are expected to tank between 9-11% and to mitigate that shortfall, expenses need to be trimmed by a similar amount. The covid19 pandemic is not going away in the next 18 months. Cisco missed the boat to the cloud, AWS ate our lunch, Azure is eating our breakfast. Cisco webex can't beat Zoom. We can still sell boxes for routing/switching as long as Huawei is kept at bay. Our security solution thucks, Palo Alto Networks is eating our dinner.

Btw, you might have seen some hints in here about enhanced security measures that the company is quietly taking - obviously protecting itself in the run up to some large changes. Just be very careful about following these rules and any policies, no matter how insane they seem.
For instance, the latest letters from HR leadership marked “Company Confidential” have external trackers installed in the HTML - so do not be forwarding it to your friends.

There are 7,000 eligible for ER. If many of those take it, there will be no need for an LR.
Although they still might take out poor performers.

So this layoff is primarily focused on middle managers, long term blue badges, and team leads?

Also, is there any word on if it will affect one campus more than others, or is this a company wide event?

Grade 10 and above IC's are the ones who do all the work and have the knowledge. TSA's on the sales side and Team Leads on engineering side.

Dump all the inclusive c-ap and teams that deal with that. They are useless. Dump all the fluff corporate do nothing teams, project managers etc. Dump and clean out CX why is there endless directors there that report to other directors with no reports that do nothing all day? They are all disposable.

these high grade ICs and middle managers need to be gone.. there is no need for them to stick around.. here is my experience:
a) some of these people are really known to one or two technologies and stick with it like 20+ years,
b) resistant to change internally and against the cloud . taking pride in the past and force others to be in line with them
c) bully rest of the newer folks in words between lines
d) regardless which country they come from even local American, all the same type
e) these people will not survive in amazon, google..unless they lick their wounds and change their heart and what a new world it is..
f) I see many of these people doing some small talks to mingle themselves in RTP, at all these buildings to find an alternative positions instead of learning new.. trying to build relationship and move on..
