If you take the ER or one of the subsequent LR packages, are you eligible for unemployment? (I'm in California)

If paid out lump sum you get unemployment if its paid ongoing, like paydays you are not allowed to collect. Sounds like Cisco pays a lump sum.
If ER, NO unemployment it is stated in your paperwork, if LR you can file for unemployment as it is not voluntary.
Yes, you qualify for unemployment after an ER and after an LR. You will receive your PTO pay as a lump sum in both packages. You don't need to wait for PTO or severance to 'run out' as stated above. I took the ER in 2011 and was LR'd in 2019 & qualified for unemployment both times. File for unemployment the day after your last official day at Cisco.
Generally, you can collect unemployment after your severance and PTO run out, not before. So if you are paid for 6 months, you can't start drawing unemployment until that time. You should file immediately however. Hope that helps.
Not sure since you volunteered ....... at gn point
i have the same question. I think you can because the ER.. while voluntary.. Is a company's way of 'compelling' the employee to be part of a reduction in force...
doubt it, an ER is voluntary and an LR is involuntary...big difference, but who knows? It is an interesting question
Yes you still would.. I was part of an LR several years ago, and was still able to collect my unemployment
great question ask HR
