Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

How is this working in UK?

I left Cisco quite a long time ago, but always had a soft spot for it and my former colleagues.

Am I reading right that the offer is "Take a 20% pay cut, work the same hours and if enough people do it, we may not have to make anyone redundant"?

If so, for those in sales (SE's and AM's) is this 20% reduce in base or OTE?

Feeling very sad for a company I still have much respect for!

For Sales it is not an option at this time, but if enough people ask they may try to find a way to do it in sales.
Although it does not make any sense because it would have to affect quotas. Sales has to do what it has to do... just have someone cover for you for the extra day :)

The muppets on here can’t read.
The 20% reduction is VOLUNTARY.

And the 20% reduction is for 6,9, or 12 months - no idea how that will work, and for a 20% reduction in workdays. I've been at Cisco for quite a while - I don't know anyone who works just 40 hours a week or just 5 days a week. I try and work reasonable work days and I do rarely work on the weekend but I do check email over the weekend and will watch for fires.

What no one knows is how the reduced workweek will actually work. Does an entire group move to only work on certain days? Who knows.

It's a 20% reduction in hours and pay (and some pro-rated benefits)
