Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Human Resources too scared to hear what we think

The corporation is now so scared to hear what people are thinking that they have removed the anonymous option for slido questions. Even the architects of this brutal new culture, Human Resources is making the questions at this week's HR employee forum non anonymous. Clearly if you are identified you are less likely to say something that could see you in next year's NSI category. This from a function that has cut heads and reduced their support in recent weeks, stopped savings plan matching, and implemented a tough new performance management system that has created an us and them attitude to workers. What could they be afraid of?

HR care for their own rice bowl, dun ask them PIP as they dun even understand why & what they are doing now. Can’t address PIP questions! Get HR PIPd and all will be good!

Do not confuse SSO (single sign on) with lack of anonymity. Slido still allows anonymous entry at event organizer discretion. Just get a slido account and see what information gets recorded. Do you think managers will go through the touble identifing who asked what ? They will never give you honest answer , so why bother with the question?

Good. Let them go. There are many people with 3.5 gpas that exxonmobil overlooks that are far superior than the 3.8 students that are top of their class.

If you think that there is a shortage of new hires to funnel in the company years from now, you're incredibly delusional.

HR had the golden opportunity to read Real Yammer and learn what people think.
They won’t be able now to stop the bleeding. People with transferable skills are preparing CVs and checking out in droves.
Good luck with indoctrinating new hires, training the outsourced workforce, with digital, and the rest of stuff that will leave the door along with the brain drain.
Once again, Exxon management has chosen to pretend there isn’t a morale problem and quell the uproar with PR and lawyers.
Maybe they can’t hear or their eyelashes block their view.
Thanks, HR.

HR and IT should be outsourced to India operations immediately. They are hardly effective nor available.

@zmj, I hope so. There’s one at HQ who needs to go, but they’re still there.

If only they could be so keen to do their actual job (to take this company out of the mud) as they are in their effort to shut the voices down. They are even trying to that here - the guy crying for “admin” whenever someone names a name here. Pathetic, Guess what, if a Wall Street Journal can name someone, so can we. We can name top dogs as they represent the firm (and we can discuss their performance for the same reasons).

@xqb+16wgafHP - yep, I must have found out around the same time you did. HR’s function is to protect the company by ensuring that all policies are followed. That’s all. That’s why they never help employees to maximise potential benefits.

If you want to stand up and say something - do it and put your name to it.

Do you honestly think HR cares what the employees think? HR is not there to help the employees, I found that out 30 years ago. And "anonymous" is never really anonymous. EM probably knows who is posting here by the IP addresses.

It feels like HR should be focused on helping us overcome the challenges shown here. EM seems to fit all ten. https://www.forbes.com/sites/lizryan/2016/10/19/ten-unmistakable-signs-of-a-toxic-culture/

I was thinking the same thing and I thought I was the only one, so I’m happy to see at least one other person is thinking the same thing. I had many thoughts to share that are negative/critical of the company on the Slido, but I backed off because I didn’t want my name to be attached to it because it could lead me to losing my job. Really disappointed in this decision, especially coming from HR. I have so many questions and concerns that I want addressed, but I know they won’t be touched on because no one is willing to attach their name (understandably).
