They can have it! This change is the most ridiculous thing I've ever experienced. Take this job and shove it.
he member specialist:
Creates a memorable experience for our members.
Uses exit technology (primary.)
Increases scan and go adoption (primary.)
Enhance self-checkout experience and adoption (primary.)
Be a champion for shrink prevention, price overrides up to $50.00.
Train associates on member team processes.
Provide support to other areas of the member team, when needed.
Communicate membership benefits.
Lift up to 25 lbs, be able to bend, squat and stand for long periods of time.
Preform additional job related responsibilities and duties as assigned and/or necessary.
So above are the duties of the "member specialist"
Uses exit technology (primary.)
Increases scan and go adoption (primary.)
Enhance self-checkout experience and adoption (primary.)
The three above are "primary". Just what does this mean? That they need to be able to scan receipts? Educate members to use Scan and Go? Enhance self check-out experience and adoption? This makes no sense to me.
Will they be on registers or will they run around like the MSS'?
How many positions they have available for member specialist?
No thanks they can have that job .member specialist
It is actually a step below MTL
Amen to the person who said some MSL's are hateful. After 10 plus years I am ready to hang it up. I have enjoyed my job and the people I work with, but there must be something in the water cos people are treating associates horribly. We have one MSS who lies and will stop at nothing to make others look bad in front of the club manager. This person is power hungry and I am sick of it. Eventho I am not part of the front end, I have supported them at every turn. But no more. I also have no respect for the head club manager. In the beginning I thought he was great, but he also does not support his people he should. He doesn't even pay attention when you are talking to him due to him always looking at his phone, so rude. Two associates did an open door on the MSS, nothing was done.
The MSL are over this team. Ours have too much to do as is. Too much dutie for these people. Call outs are off the charts. Some MSL are just hateful.
And they are offering only to cashiers in our club at this time. Very unfair when there are others with years with the company who can do this job. Most of the cashiers in our club have less than six months on the job. I see mangers being let go in the future and MSS'/TL doing more. Sadly in our club I only would put my faith in one MSS, the others are not leaders.

So what does this all mean. Self check, exit door, club pickup, sell plus, prevent shrink, have your own override numbers, train new cashiers/desk, really sell members on scan n go, sell plus, and anything else you team lead or manager needs done. In fact, it's one step below team members, so when team members are off, you will be expected to step into their shoes and do their job.
For sixteen an hour, they are going to expect you to step up and go above and beyond. Preventing shrink and pushing scan n go are two of the biggies.
Hope this helps.
