I'm a red badge that just got cut after 5 and a half years. Today is my last day. Was told I was renewed for another quarter then suddenly told I'm outta here. I know entire red badge teams that got let go too. It's time to look elsewhere for most contractors at Cisco. The job market for skilled remote IT people is actually pretty good right now. Good luck.

Ha! I never noticed that before. "NON-EMPLOYEE" Harsh, eh? Maybe mine (blue badge) should say "Non-Executive" or "Non-Totally-Super-Essential" or "Non-All-That Handsome-Really". ;-D

"Its just a short hand way of saying permanent full-time employee (blue) or contractor (red)."
Have you checked the directory? That's NON EMPLOYEE, get the lingo right!

Red badge here. My contract end date is sometime in December but regardless most red badges, including myself, get SOWs approved quarter to quarter even if they have yearlong contracts. It is possible to get terminated earlier than the SOW end date but it is unlikely since that money is already set aside. Many reds were cut the end of last quarter since their SOWs were not renewed. Likely the next date for red badge cuts is in Oct when the quarter ends. If youre worried you can usually reach out to your vendor and ask how renewals work for your specific contract.

Nobody's reducing anyone to a badge color, relax. Its just a short hand way of saying permanent full-time employee (blue) or contractor (red). Every company has this rough arrangement. I will say, in my view, compared to other places i have worked, the 'red badge' employees at Cisco are some great contributors to our work - they are doing real, important work along side everyone else, in general.

After the purple badges. How do you possibly work for a company that reduces you to a badge color? It's worse than prison.

Chop chop chop as each contractor's term ends. Renewals need SVP approval, before Sr. Mgr could renew contract very easily. Now justification is required on why a certain redbadge needs to be kept on payroll.
