Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Falling MeAT&Teorite

AT&T has the cash flows to support the stock price at $30 and pay a 7% dividend yield?
yes...but
The company doesn't necessarily have the market position to control their future, and the won't, see the utter failure of Warner Media and their firing squad's last week, the Operation stability out the window 2 years later?

Either T-Mobile, Netflix, Disney, and Amazon has the power and market influence to make AT&T miserable for this decade, and they will. as the bully becomes the elephant in the room.

T-Mobile is the biggest possible thorn due to the wireless business providing the most financial income for the company, and with that will take lots of subscribers from AT&T

Either way, AT&T investors shouldn't expect a better environment here with T-Mobile grabbing the headlines as the #2 domestic wireless provider. For this reason, the wireless and media giant is likely to continue the trend of missing sales estimates following a trend in 9 of the last 12 quarters, as AT&T continuos bleeding for the next decade.

Senior leaders in all companies have no problem understanding that THEY want a certain cut of the action. In a very small company they want controlling interest which automatically buys them half of the net profits plus compensation. For an AT&T exec making $20M a year, that is way below 1%, but they still think of it as a slice of the total action. However, most companies don't think the non-exec employees should get a slice as inspiration for doing a better job. I don't mean an end-of-year bump. I mean more like, if your customers rate you higher, you literally get more NOW. Along with the that, if they rate you lower, you are gone. The goal would be to have 100% employees who are getting extra on every job because they are all awesome and inspired to give more and get more. It may seem costly, but imagine a customer base that is so thrilled, what it would mean for the brand. Instead, the mentality if to put widgets in holes and count tickets. No inspiration. No commitment. No leadership. One of my favorite famous quotes goes.... If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people to collect wood and assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.

Management at T is doubling down on pushing the workers for numbers while ignoring the fact that they have taken away all the good tools while implementing all kinds of useless pass/fails like true test that serve no good purpose for the tech but provides ammunition for the management blame game . Techs suffer, customers suffer, management gets another measurement number. No bueno !

This is what happens when you have no organic growth but you try to buy companies to get to the top. People are not buying their phones from the carrier any more and are not locked in anymore. How you could not plan for that is beyond me.

This is what happens when you manage a company for years and years with a near monopolistic mentality! The company structure changed in 1984 due to the breakup, however, it’s ability to now have to compete in an extremely competitive market never modified its many unnecessary layers of wasteful management!
Then, once again the company became more streamlined by eliminating these layers. Once SBC took over, back to the old Bell mentality...here we go again! It’s just a never ending cycle of mismanagement and out of touch senior decisions!

Absolutely true - AT&T does not have the financial flexibility to really compete against Netflix or Disney and still maintain wireless market share. They are an annuity that has a finite life span.
