Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Rivian is Riviout in Michigan

So I read they are shutting down the Michigan operations and moving it all to Cali. All the Ford expats that thought they were going to cut the hog and a–, lol. Cali is a joke and you will take a hit on your standard of living. No way a fledgling startup is going to relo and COLA all those Michigan people. Check out Linkedin , they have hundreds of positions in Cali.Talk about a . Another b—s— artist company conning their mediocre rise every step of the way. Also read Tesla is suing them for stealing trade secrets. And we bought a stake, what a joke. More Ford family drama because they are so insecure and have little faith in their own company.

RJ the main man at Rivian wanted to live in SoCal so that's where Rivian is located. They will get a lot of good young talent there i guess?

No more winter, 330 days of sun, beaches, mountains, food. California is beautiful... but very extensive.

It does make sense for young engineers, but because of the cost of living, not that much for older people. With houses nearly in the 6 digits, the mortgage are barely affordable even with the small adjustment (20%) of salary.

They must have had great trouble attracting the kind of talent they needed in Michigan. However moving to California may have been the other dumb extreme. They may have been better off moving to Austin or Atlanta or even Chicago, for talent.

Not sure what would motivate any company to move operations to California given their major issues with seasonal fires, roving power blackouts, high taxes, lack of affordable housing, high cost of living, repressive regulatory statutes...etc.

I would never move to California. If my job moved their I would quit.

The most important thing is that we purchased a board seat for Bill's daughter. The objective of Ford Motor Company is to provide employment for family members who wouldn't be able to find a job otherwise.

We had some LL4's and 5's migrate (involuntarily) over to "Ford West" post SRD in May of 19'. These guys were still years away from retirement. Bet it was another gut punch to hear this news.

Hey billy and jumbo how about making ford great again by insourcing all work to the GREAT USA related to providing great affordable vehicles that your employees can afford. Stop the woke bs, and all the diversity c-ap. You can’t be all to everyone.
