Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

ATT management double-speak .

So tired of all the BS that management wants us to work smarter and harder and then when you try you run up against the buzzsaw of bureaucracy.

Why play the game of telling staff to bring ideas and improvements forward if NONE of them ever are listened to.

I hate to be part of wait till 5pm crowd and just do the bare minimum , but sadly this place rips any kinda of work ethic right out you, and encourages mediocrity. While stroking all the managers egos about how great they are... What a load of bs.

All well and good advice but I just never understood how people can go into work everyday and have that attitude. I guess i am just not built that way and explains a lot of how att got to be where it is today.

The fish rots from the head down, that is how many of us are just trying to maintain.

"Stop caring. They don't.
The only number or metric that should matter to you is your paycheck.
Smile, wave. Be in the middle, for when they flip the glass, you'll still be in the middle.
Fly low.
Be smart enough to play stupid.
"Can you email me that so I can refer to it if need be? TY boss!!!" That should be sent be email as well.
Try to run them out of $$$. They have plenty.
Their rules are you ticket...learn them, use them.
Survive.
Win"

"work smarter and not harder" has been in their vocabulary for years, and yet the business has been "under stress." Have they not been implementing their own advice all this time?

It seems to me that upper management is virtue signaling non-stop , they only say things to make others think of them as pious and noble . Its all nonsense , non of them mean a word of what they say .
