Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

To: Chevron HR; From: Noble Employees; Re: hiring

Dear Chevron HR - We (Noble employees) got an email this week saying future staffing decisions will be made by “teams comprised of Noble and Chevron”. Presumably this means our managers. While this may seem like reasonable idea, I’d offer a word of caution: specifically, Noble has been a complete clusterf–k for 2 years.

Sure, the 2020 has been weird for all of us. But, what you may not know, is that Noble has had 2 re-orgs in 12 months. This means, at best, most managers have had their jobs for a year. Most are 6 weeks. I’ve had 4 bosses in the last 12 months (1 was qualified, 2 under qualified, 1 WTF). I’ve had 3 job titles in that year. The last re-org had positions in our team that were literally made up, because our upper management thought it was how it worked. I’ve never had a performance review in the years I’ve worked here. I haven’t met my current boss in person. And, sadly, our team isn’t the exception. It’s the norm.

Rest assured, the managers are going to seem confident about what they know. Noble has a rich tradition of no accountability and hubris in management. But, I’d suggest asking how long they’ve been in their respective positions, and looking at their resumes, prior listening to much they say. You’ll find an alarming number aren’t qualified for their roles, and a majority will have been in that job for weeks.

Good luck.

The job of a low level manager , is to make the job of his team easier, and thru that more productive. As i look at most teams the reverse is true, jobs get harder and less productive, They add unneeded staff during the good times and then layoff is the way the upper management comes in and destroys the little fiefdoms and re-creates them and the process begins all over again. It's quite normal , The the job of upper management to create and destroy teams. All this criticism is simply the workers bees resisting this change. The job of upper managers is to be b–tards. Their job is NOT to be liked DUH. If they are liked they are not doing the job.

Sounds like a great fit. Two companies with total incompetence from the top down. Best of luck to all who end up with a position. As a recent Chevron retiree, my advice to you is get out now.

Welcome to another pain train, you might even end up being lucky if you’re not given a ticket. Good luck.

Sounds just like Chevron! HR at Chevron surely know how to work with this type of management for years of experience!

From what you have described, Noble will be a great fit for Chevron! We have equal amounts of meaningless re-orgs and incompetent leaders with a lack of accountability.

Good! Many of these Nobel managers will be in good company.

I know from the outside some people think Chevron is all that, but honestly, their are a lot.... and I mean a lot of incompetence managers at CVX too.
