The disconnect he has from everyone he manages is sickening. May be partly due to him never having done the job. Guy has no technical understanding of the work and thinks he's a great leader because he listens to leadership podcasts.
He takes a lot of credit for others work. A LOT. The question has been asked quite a bit "what does he actually do....?" Very good question yet to be answered. Go ask anyone on his team this question. Do it. Most wouldn't know how to answer this.
Somewhere along the way he caught a bad case of yes-man syndrome. Appears to be incapable of taking a stance on what is truly best for the geosteering team's organization and schedule. Not just for morale but also for performance. PLEASE go ask a geosteerer about this.
His ability to see from others perspective appears to be completely absent. Lack of empathy for others and only gives a damn about keeping his job.......selfish and sociopath tendencies.
Simply put, not a good manager. That team could operate fine if not better without him and after talking to many people on that team, I really doubt anyone there would argue against it. That team just needs someone to handle scheduling and guidance of longer term projects. Again what does he actually do.....?
