I would caution against tell Cisco, one of our members in NC did that and did not get the package and has to leave.. it is better to get the package and then leave. with work virtually, no one can tell.. and also use up all the ptos to your advantage.. take some training, medical leave.... etc.. to drag it out.. Cisco will try to save $ and let you go without a package.. why risk it?
That was Cisco's plan to get people looking so they don't need to pay out severance package with this dragged out Layoff dooms.
Most likely LR list already made up, with lawyers checking the list.
I would not disclose any thing to your manager. Remember, Cisco is NOT on your side.
That is why I'd look for a job now and tell cisco to kick rocks if you get hired soon
You should really reach out to your manager and tell them you would like the LR package. Many teams are going to be hit with LR's and alot of people who need to keep their job will be let go. Volunteer and make it known to your manager ASAP so he can put you in for it instead of a co-worker who wants to stay.
I wish things worked like that. Most likely, the director won't care and knowing you'll leave to accept your new job will only make his/her budget numbers look better improving his bonus so why should he pay you a bonus to leave when you're already leaving?
Besides, Oct 7th is just the date they tell you your job is at risk or not. Your job exit date, if you voluntarily leave after being notified is Nov 23 and they expect you to work until then. But, given that everyone is WFH, it would be hard for them to know if you're working your new job and doing any Cisco work after hours since it's all virtual now.

Would you really have leverage for the package if you plan to leave that early? Seems like you're already out the door. Maybe if it was several months out ..
You're probably replacing a higher-paid employee to do the exact same job for half the salary.
I think he means he (Cisco employee) accepted position outside after oct 7.
Reach out to you VP and HR person. They can cut deal for you. It happened in past. Good luck.
Congrats on moving away from Cisco and good luck!
That's a good position to be in. Wouldn't hurt to talk with your Manager and volunteer for an LR and go for the double paycheck for X months. It's worth a shot, worse they could do is say no :). Good luck!
