Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Dyed in the wool IBMer

My dad was a dyed in the wool IBMer back in the days when they did not have any layoffs. Our family loved IBM. Its sad that the old IBM Way is gone.

Layoffs will screw up any company no matter how great they once were.

The old IBM way started to die in 1991. John Akers was the first, unfortunately not last, IBM CEO not up to the job.

Came in through an acquisition, leaving as a result of the dismantling of that purchase. I guess I don’t see how any of what is still to come makes ANY financial sense. Will there even be a Watson health in a year? Looks like the moon shot is burning up on re-entry.

It is sad but the old IBM way ended in 1993 with Lou Gerstner, if not even before that.

You are correct, most people morale at IBM has gone down the toilet... the few who are saying otherwise are id–ts!

People are fed up... and will start leaving in droves... I am myself waiting for an offer, and will be departing soon.

Layoffs + no payraises for years even for inflation = people who don't like to work.
