Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Keep applying for jobs if you got canned from Allstate

I got a nasty call on Friday stating due to my assessment Allstate decided not to keep me. Two hours later, I got an acceptance letter from a company I've been interviewing with for weeks. I applied to 100 plus jobs and went on so many interviews because I didn't know my fate with this company and I am a proactive person who like to have many plans. I would spend most of my work day applying for jobs and interviewing. I've only been with the company for two years so a month of severance is not much to me. I'm putting in my two weeks and I hope I don't get any calls from anyone from Allstate. I'm done and disappointed. The last two years was miserable anyway. My co workers talked me out of leaving a year ago and why did I stay. Oh well, it's my time to shine with a better company. Keep applying. Don't give up. It's something out there much better. My salary increased 10,000.

Good for you, OP. I have several friends who left Allstate over the years and they all ended up in better positions with better pay. They left of their own accord over things like the length of their commute when the office moved, or a spouse relocation. The company wouldn't compromise on WFH so they found jobs without rhe commute. This was over the last 2 years.

So, yeah. People do leave amd get better pay and quality of life.

@mci+172cTioO The layoffs are indeed by phone call, I know several who have been notified over the past month, it was a one on one phone call with the manager explaining they were not going to be retained and that they would be receiving an official notice via mail and email with their final date.

Interesting how everyone who leaves finds wonderful employment with $10k salary increases. Stop posting nonsense.

I understand the layoffs will not be via a phone call. I doubt this entry is totally truthful.

Congrats! My department took the assessment two weeks ago by my position and team were didn't have to take it. I have also been looking at jobs. I been with Allstate 4 years so I'm going to wait to see if I have to take the assessment. If so and I get the 60 day notice I'll work out the entire 60 days and in the meantime look for another job and have that lined up plus the 8 weeks severance!

Allstate is the most disorganized unethical company I have seen. Transitioning from Esurance has been one disaster after another. Absolutely no communication and trying to get a straight answer is near impossible. The constant “we don’t know” is ridiculous. I believe they know but need us in the trenches until we are all replaced by employees overseas. Call IT or read the employee portal. It’s pretty obvious who is pulling the strings in this operation. Allstate will never be able to compete with Progressive or Geico, they are disorganized and the employees do not feel valued and all trust is lost. It’s clear that the definition of transparency is different depending on which employee you are talking to. Bottom line, happy employees are more productive, make fewer mistakes and in turn create more revenue. This is just another top heavy company.

Congratulations. This has been a demoralizing experience that hopefully will end soon for “ thousands”’ of us dedicated employees who will be laid off thanks to the greed and mismanagement at the top levels. To treat employees likes this for over 3 months in the hopes they would leave before severance is really a new low in a pandemic. It’s been said a lot on this site but it’s worth repeating. When we all land better jobs or positions we will look back at this time and this rotten egg company and be very glad we got out before we got any more demoralized.

Who called you to tell you and did they straight out tell you it was because of the assessment?
