Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Why not come together?

I am surprised that no one here has yet proposed an idea to help our company? We are big company why don’t we all chip in $10, $100 or whatever to fund the company in these tough times ? I mean call me crazy but boy is all in. Show em how we do things in Texas and this country run by best guy in the office.

I doubt all the employees could donate enough to cover the interest payment on the debt.

*also – insanely stupid idea

Sure I will pitch in; after DW and all bonus pay based employees materially contribute with zero bonus and a pay cut. Happy to pitch in and take a pay cut at that point ...

Is that all you have to say? Lol. I'd rather go to another company that take a pay cut to support employment of many mo–ns in this company. Some people just need to be shown the door.

@1kqw+172oLL3r you sound arrogant, did you do well in ranking this year? You may change your tune when you get ranked lower and have a different opinion. Oh and you won't find a better paying job outside of XOM for your title most likely. Nice veiled threat.

After we each send in our $100 check to Darren (that's $100 times 78,000 employees = $7,800,000) how do we finance the rest of the $47,992,200,000 shortfall?

Are you truely that dense? A Paycut across the board will only cause higher performing people to look elsewhere for work (why should they stay if they can get better salary elsewhere). This would be a regretted loss for the company because it basically means keeping people like you employed. I for one would rather see you seperate than for me to take a pay cut.

BTW. Calling people spoiled and say visit 3rd world countries is a lame point. Why don't you just resign and go live there? You should be blessed that you got a few years of employment making higher salary than many of those people make in a lifetime.

Extra funds raised by the employees should go to our algae business.

Most of you are the sad pathetic people at our great company who need to be fired. This post is exactly right. I have asked since March why don't we all take a 20-30 percent pay cut. Why? Because the median salary at XOM is 180k. The reality is simple, oil and gas employees are over paid because we went from low oil prices in the 90s to high oil prices in the mid to late 2000s. As a result oil companies revenues went higher and skilled labor became more in demand thus resulting in higher salaries. However, we don't live in that world today. Instead we have high cost assets like the Canadian oil sands that don't make us money in these times. Everyone one of you spoiled brats should be able to live comfortably and happily on 75k a year. The amount of money you make post 75k only improves your quality of life marginally. Go to a truly poverty stricken country and you will see people with very little but with so much more joy and gratitude than all of you combined. So shut up.

Wow. I took this post as basic sarcasm.

I think the EM kultur has completely destroyed any sense of satire/humor in many people.
I guess that is to be expected.
I know I'm looking forward to pressing my food button tomorrow morning.

I like the way you think! You're management material! Pure management material! I'd kiss you if company policy allowed it!

Executives taking “salary cuts” still disproportionately impacts them less than lower levels because much of their pay is not “salary”

We have already come together and contributed 7% of our annual salary. That is way more than $10 or $100 that you are suggesting. BTW, get your math right - $10 times 80, 000 employees = $0.8M. What is that going to do?

Instead, focus on doing your job better and improving company's operating performance.

What the what ? Your faith in administration in this county and Exxon is foolish.

Exxon has about 75000 employees even if each and every one gives $1000 it’s only 75 million. It’s not a whole lot in grand scheme of things. Now if everyone gives away $100k then that’s sizable chunk of cash.

Since you are so willing can you chip in my 100k too? Mind you well your wife’s boyfriend may get super mad.

@OP+172oLL3r Sounds like a winning behaviour! Post this in Yammer and tag all your rank group managers! I’m sure they will be cheering as though you just discovered fire in 2020. Just look at all the inclusion and diversity sharing.. made me sick already

What you've just said... is one of the most insanely id–tic things I have ever heard. At no point, in your rambling, incoherent response, were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your PIP’d soul.

What would the funds go towards?” Keep people employed” or provide medical insurance funds? I’d be up for funding to keep a few people employed or funded who are going through medical hardship and need the health insurance in the US. Otherwise not sure what we’d be contributing towards...
