UK payroll expats in US

Don’t understand letting high potential US payroll employees go while retaining many UK payroll expats in the US. Last time I checked we are a US company. Why do we keep developing employees from countries where we no longer have a business? White males on UK payroll don’t help the diversity numbers either.

UK leadership kept the lights on as long as they could. Inept staff could neither find nor develop anything material since Alba field in the 1980s.

US company has no business left in UK. No need to develop UK expats in US anymore. Not talking about UK guys married to US girls or any of that mess referred to above here.

@2zdh, It's obvious that you are one and likely the only one who feels this consideration of an outdated practice has "highlighted their own inadequacies", being the only one who brought that bizarre concept up! lol.

having a Brit accent does not mean you must be an expat. There are actually very few UK expats in CVX in the US. The folks you are referring to are US payroll either as Citizens or Green Card holders

To the person saying it’s hard to lay off a Brit - you’re forgetting that in the same PSG in U.K. is paid MUCH lower than that PSG in US. Also Chevron has enhanced the redundancy payment. They actual redundancy payment mandated by the government can be very low.

Brits are the most insidious minority, they will connive and scheme while presenting a stiff upper lip.

If you have lived in the Middle East you will understand.

Someone said it but let me re-emphasize, the UK government makes it tough to lay-off Brit as you pay them more and in Pound Sterling. Laying off one Brit will lay-off 3 Americans.
Unfortunately there’s a lot of better ways to acquire citizenship or residency in the UK that allows them to live indefinitely here compared little to no options when you’re in the UK.
It’s a system mismatch and cannot be corrected unless our Congress acts which will likely not happen until we all think rationally and avoid group think.

Oh sure, everyone knows British graduate schools are really the greatest. So good that a M.S. can be acquired in a few months with a book report.

To the racist poster : Excuse me, but many of us Brits came to the USA because we fell in love married a gal from here. and have citizenship. Plus the US did not even have to go thru the expense of education us and paying for our degrees and before you judge some more, we actually would have been better off staying in UK, Do you know how much it costs to uproot oneself and move countries? no of course you don't you. Grow up!

Has it ever occurred to you that many Brits are better educated than their US counterparts? Talking about real education not the "training" that seems to go on here in most places

It is time to remove the all UK Expats - They work together to work the system at the expense of Americans. How do they get visas when there are US People equally or more qualified for their jobs. Maybe some organized mobilization to let immigration know will have some impact and save some of us USA payroll People. Our president protects Americans and am sure his administration would act on an issue where US citizens were being laid off while we keep Brits on payroll at a premium. Completely ridiculous

It makes complete sense that NH based the Asia Pacific headquarters based London... It aligns to the British Empire and its colonies. Why are we building a larger presence in London?

The Brits ran their own BU into the ground. They never discovered a drop of oil there and frankly haven’t done anything useful in Exploration, except complain about what a stupid American company Chevron is. I say sack the lot.

Spot on with Chevron’s “UK Problem”. We have about 10x the number of UK expats as other US oil companies. While the UK and other countries kicked out most all US expats Chevron kept many of our UK people. In 2015 we laid-off hundreds of well qualified US people but kept the UK folks because they were too expensive to sack. We even claimed on visa applications that no US people could do these jobs. We have continued to pay them double the amount a US person would get.
The UK folks were the leaders of AMBU, Exploration, and Gorgon and other disasters. How did they do this? They captured many of the PDC and PDR jobs and coincidently UK folks kept plum jobs and were promoted. Whose leading reorganisation efforts now? In many cases UK folks and, coincidentally, positions with UK incumbents are still in the Organization and many with US incumbents aren’t. I guess this is because US universities are rubbish and full of ignorant cowboys. My exploration friends tell me that the mafia is particularly strong there. The UK anti-US bias is a problem. Think twice about using one of your postings if there is a UK job owner and you will be competing with UK people.

Amen to the post about brits. While labeling all as having a superiority complex is wrong, my experience over there has proven that they still think they rule the planet. #Small island complex.

The British Aristocracy are one of the most primitive savage classes . They created concentration camp in South Africa, and singles handley messed up most of the world's borders and then handed the mess of the the USA. Now the American oligarchy has taken over their role. What a fine mess

There exists an entire privileged CVX country club of UK payroll expats. The British ruled 2/3 of the planet until WW2, they still think they are a separate class above the rest.
