Thread regarding Pioneer Natural Resources Co. layoffs

Work ethics

Man, I don’t understand some of my coworkers. One just doesn’t care how much effort he puts in. To hear him tell it you’d think the company OWES him just for showing up. I get that a lot of people aren’t happy with the company and don’t want to give 110%. The 10% is extra in my opinion. But everybody should still give the other 100 percent to make sure the company is successful and we all still have a job. I don’t know if anyone agrees with me, but frankly I don’t care.

So much discussions on worth ethics, as I have written earlier oil companies are becoming a GIG employment or contractor driven. It must be the nature of a commodity driven market to hire and work your staff in that manner. The days of mutual loyalty are gone. The future is making your own future based on value that you can give a company, updating your skillsets, and market yourself. Forget tracking on who or who isn't carrying their load, focus on your future and you will be rewarded

No bonus next year. There are no yearly goals that matter. And EVERYONE in this company gossips and complains about others actions and words when they should just mind their own business.

Interesting. Wonder what the percentage of time allocated to minding coworkers business and performance was on this persons yearly goals.

While I agree a lot of co-workers work ethic is an issue at the moment, you have to put it in perspective.
2020 in itself has been a sh– year for everyone. Wear a mask, don't wear a mask, many public events cancelled etc.
Low oil prices with no clear view of it going up soon. Couple that with this being our 3rd round of layoffs in a year or so is taking its toll on people.
Add in this round of layoffs and it is taking so long to even get started. What do you expect would happen? Moral in general has kicked most people on the nuts before this latest fiasco even started.

Add one more thing to the work ethic issue. The all company meeting prior to this round we were told the first two rounds set us up to weather $40 bbl oil for at least two years. No more layoffs needed. 1 month later, more layoffs. So now most have trust issues in the company. I think this is why most actually want a package. Not because of work ethic but because most believe if they don't get one now, they may be let go without one later.

If you don't care you should realize nobody cares about your opinion either. If you are such an amazing employee why are you wasting time here instead of being productive?

That sounds stupid lol 100% making someone else rich, sounds like most Americans. Start your own and stop being stupid making the man rich. They only pay you enough to keep you needing them. Stop doing what your daddy did work to make other rich
