Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Official Numbers Leaked

My VP of globals has the list for his area. Based on his area cuts we estimated the numbers to be a low of 8500 and high of 12500. Everyone has been quiet because the magnitude is expected to hurt morale much more than some of the past major hits like 08. Worst part is the SE and TSA ranks are looking at a pooled model as well. Reasoning there is so much overlap and underperforming employees.

Are managers supposed to clearly outline what does into IPF/Performance? Mine never did. They could make up any excuse to give you a lower number.

I got a higher IPF than usual this time - which I expected.
But I just heard an informed person give an indication of the upcoming headcount reduction.
Frankly, I’m shocked by it.

Does anyone got unjustified lower IPF this time? Someone told me the lower IPF can be used as justification for LR. (By lower, I mean still above 1 but still not commensurate to your contributions and not comparable to past years’ IPF).

So that’s 3000-7000 being laid off? Here’s hoping 8m one of them. I’d rather the payout than resign8ng when I can no longer handle it

If you do the math to dave ~$1B the numbers will be 6-10,000 people moved out of the business, inclusive of the Elect program and the LR. The Elect program had better than expected opting in in Sales, but less than expected everywhere else.

Cisco doesn't conduct 6,000+ layoffs. It's horrible PR.

Much easier to publicly eliminate 2,500 followed by 12 stealth layoffs.

They never stop doing something, they just load it onto some poor schmuck and make them own it and when they don’t deliver push them to do more with less, etc etc. and when poor guy says, “I cannot do it all” they tell YOU to prioritize!! Why? Because the managers don’t want to upset anybody by saying no. Cisco doesn’t do “No”. That’s why we have political managers, not leaders.

If it's that big, there will be an exodus afterward because lack of leadership - won't prioritize anything! They'll just keep dumping all the same work on the people left.

Pooled model is where you’re in a contact center picking up tickets to work on deals.

What is a pooled model?

Do we believe these numbers include those who have accepted the ER already?

A pooled model refers to the great big pool of sh|* at Cisco.

I don’t believe it’s 2500 globally, not for a second!

Sounds way too high IMHO - I may be wrong though

These numbers are not correct, it’s only 2500

What is "pooled model"?

How did MSFT leap frog Webex? I use Teams and Zoom, was a prior Cisco Webex SE. Zoom is Webex and Teams is horrible. No one cares about Webex outside of Cisco. No one uses the junk video integrations or “AI” or assistants.

Collab tsa, I think you are right on the numbers but you are definitely being pooled. And you apparently missed ignite because Microsoft just leap frogged webex.

There is now way the numbers will be that high. I’m a collab TSA and have been crushing it for years. No way we will have a pooled model. And I heard only 4500 were being let go. A much smaller number.

Tell us more about this pooled engineer model. And they would stay in the geos or go to the global team??

Mama Mia, that's gonna hurt. If 10k folks are chopped, it's going to be the begging of the end for Cisco. In my team, there are no red badges left. So if they cut 3 out of the current 8-member team, the workload will be excessive. Looking to jump ship if this happens.
