Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Any IT Layoffs recently or soon?

Laid off from a different large corporation in IT. Have an offer at BOA. Any recent layoffs in BOA or how is the company in the upswing of hiring in IT? Looking for some stability again (if can ever find this in another corp in IT).

Why can't IBM first absorb the current employees that would be willing to transfer? Would the pay be too much lower? Considering the bank is largely a collection of computers, databases, and programs, that operate largely autonomously with occasional human intervention, outsourcing IT is odd.

Yes they do lay-off it people - I am a developer at the bank and was supposed to be laid off in March then the pandemic happened and the layoffs were stopped. I expect the layoffs to occur again in early 2021 in my area they seem to be outsourcing the jobs to IBM contractors that’s who I have been training these past 6 months do they can take my job next year

Oh yes they do layoff in IT area, I have personal experience with that. No area is safe from the you need to reduce X head count.

BOA does not layoff in the technology space, of course, it depends specifically what role you have, however, anything network engineering related, vulnerability, developer, network stability is safe. I recall Brian Moynihan mentioning in an article or interview that is the one space that actually receives funding rather then reductions. Nebulous positions such as "project managers" most certainly are targets.

Better take the job fast while the hiring is going on! This may not be the case after November when the economy and the job market will begin a free fall into darkness, if the outcome is in favor of the old government official with the failed socialist ideas of the 20th century. Although the handouts would probably be great, they'll never be as much as a decent position will pay in a sound economy.

BofA is hiring. No one is guaranteed stability, but if are ok being in the office full-time at select hub sites then you've come to the right place. The upside is it is difficult to hire when you can only hire in certain hub sites.
