It's frightening how challenged some folks that work (or worked) here truly are.

You can only file for unemployment, if you are surplus, not if you took an MVO or retired on your own, I do not think that CARES covers anything but if you were Surplus

If you can, only cash out a portion of your 401K, just enough to get by for now. And file for unemployment instead. Put your 401k onto a Rollover IRA. It is supereasy through Fidelity, I just did mine. If you need money later, it will still be in the IRA.

Be glad the company isn’t deferring payroll taxes because you’d have to pay them back by April next year. Short term bigger paycheck but also short term smaller paycheck in the new year because paying current tax plus owed from deferred.

Everyone, continue to: 1) panic, 2) buy HIGH and sell LOW... 3) and of course, blame AT&T for your stupidity

In the “Go ahead, take it all out” category- is this moving from Fidelity to the new company - Newport trust?
I ask because I have made withdrawals from Fidelity & it’s super easy. I am tempted to withdraw all before Newport trust takes over and life may not be so simple.
Fidelity vs Newport Trust

I thought the CARE Act allowed a person to tap their nest eggs if they retired early, whether or not through layoff or on their own during this time, if they were before the age of 55 for some certain nest eggs, and before age 59.5 on other nest eggs, to tap with no penalties for having to withdrawal early. You of course pay all proper taxes.

Something is Something. Seems like it’s headed to less of something by the day

All it does is it waives the 10% penalty if you don't qualify for withdraws. You still pay regular income taxes!

And when you retire, you will have NOTHING! You think you are going to get a pension out of T? Yeah, the Goobernment will support you in your retirement. Right!

Go ahead, take it all out!
