True millimeter wavelength 5G is only suitable for fixed wireless scenarios. It never was and never will be a great mobile user solution. The cost to deploy antenna on virtually street corner in a metropolitan area and every 1.5 miles on roads along with the necessary fiber network in the ground is astronomical. Senior Management know this. So... Divert the money to deploy real 5G and boost the Budget for Marketing (Smoke and Mirrors). Abra-cadabra... Poof...

If you read the articles about 5G you will see articles that basically say that everyone is in the midst of a nuclear marketing war. The buildout for the super fast 5G could take years. Never seen the big boys promise that would happen anytime soon.

All radio engineers have been talking about this for years. We all know that 5G is only fast because it can use much more bandwidth than our lower frequency bands. However, the frequency is so high, you lose signal strength at an incredible rate with distance and obstacles. If you turn a corner of a building, the signal drops so quickly that you may not be able to hand off to another cell fast enough to avoid a call drop. Lastly, even if the technology permits very high data rates, we reduce data rates in our core network so that it isn't really offered at all. One LTE, in our core network, we reduce video data rate to less than 2 Mbps even where the technology can theoretically offer 75 Mbps. It is all just advertising hype.
