Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Irritated by everything Chevron

I am so irritated by almost anything Chevron. I sit in town halls and I am Annoyed and irritated by almost every word anybody says.

I realize they are typing to be sympathetic because people are going through a lot, but it seems so disingenuous. Especially when the people talking are usually the same ones making and calling all the shots. They are making the big bucks and really don’t have to face any consequences for choices they are making for us. All they can do is act like they care. Yeah right!

There was a time I would have done anything for this company. I would have been transferred anywhere and have done job they asked me to do. I would have even d–g my family along with me. I felt a sense of loyalty. However, today I am just p-ss-d and bitter. I hate the politics they play, the favoritisms they show and bullish!t I have to deal with. I am also irritated by our CEOs and VP’s salary and bonuses. No one deserves that kind of money. I’m even okay with a CEO making 10 times the average employees pay, but when it is 50 to 300+ times more, it is just immoral.

Today I hit the green EOI toggle button. I don’t plan on doing sh!t for the rest of the year.

I can’t wait to leave this place.

So an ideal opportunity to get a start on a new career or retire and pad your nestegg, courtesy of Chevron. Guess I'll whine about it anonymously to strangers online. Yawn..............

How many people are hitting the EOI out there?

I hit the EOI myself! I was lucky enough to get 33 years and a great retirement. I’m in agreement with you that it’s not the company it once was. No complaints here, I know how blessed we all are to work for Chevron. But I too can no longer stand all the c-ap. Peace Out!!

Last person. You must be from Noble. Chevron does not work like you think. Our pay scale grades are the same no matter where you work. We don’t have many people in California. The HQ, San Joaquin and two refineries. The vast majority work elsewhere in the world. Most people that work at chevron will not move to California unless they are one of the chosen few with a high PSG to work at HQ.

Just by virtue of the fact alone that California cost of living is way more expensive than Colorado’s makes Nobles field office talent cheaper than Chevrons California talent!

Employees used to matter here but now only the shareholders, executive management and maintaining the dividend matter. The current leadership are doing real damage to thier company as at some point it will be difficult to find talent after everyone leaves due to poor morale, longer working hours and low job security.

WTF. Noble talent can be had for less money money then chevron talent. Chevron pays its technical talent less then any other O&G company. We do over pay all other function the don’t find O&G but that’s a problem of how chevron is setup.

As for the OP I can’t agree more. I want to be done with this place so bad. I am trying to get financially independent so i can get the heck out of here Next year or the year after when we do this again. I work for chevron as the job was not as stressful as other O&G companies and you got more free time. With the reduction in people and new supervisors this is not the case. Don’t forget the job security that was promised is not longer here either so why stay here over any other company. I just don’t see any reason too. Don’t forget all the stupid processes.

@rev

OP here. Your comment was a little arrogant wasn’t it? Who said anything about me being left standing? R4 is in the application phase. I wasn’t left standing, I hit the EOI button.

So yeah, in your words “lucky you!”

Great point that Noble talent can be had for a LOT cheaper for Chevron talent.

It's very normal that in any kind of transformation, there are winners and losers. I am sorry to hear that you are on the losing side, but lucky me, I am on the winning side (sorry again).
Do you know how many people got PROMOTED in R2 and R3? All can tell you is that it's more than the number of left standings.

Noble acquisition needs to be voted on by Noble shareholders at next shareholder meeting scheduled in early October.

Don’t expect integration activities to happen until early 2021. Would be worried, if I was married to an assets like SJV & MCB, where Noble talent could easily replace, at a lower cost.

@oiw

I am assuming this is related to Nobel and their assets?

Those discussions arnt going on now. Right now people are just scrambling for something.

Maybe next year.

Has there been any discussion about transferring or offering transfers to Colorado to start working in the Rocky Mountain basin?

Totally get it! Growing so tired of the condescension. It’s insulting.

Hit that button and don’t look back!

I agree and pulled the trigger in May, wanted to exit the Chevron spin cycle.
