Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO WORK

THE AMOUNT OF STRESS AND TERROR THIS COMPANY PUTS ITS EMPLOYEES UNDER DOES NOT JUSTIFY THE RSUS OR BONUSES. EVERY YEAR ITS ALWAYS THE SAME MORE LAYOFF ROUNDS AND MORE OUTSOURCING. LOOK AT THIS VERY BOARD EVERYONE IS IN A PANIC BECAUSE OCTOBER 7 THERE IS RUMORED TO BE MORE LAYOFFS COMING. IT DOESNT EVEN MATTER IF YOU ARE SKILLED, IF YOU DONT PLAY THEIR GAME YOU'RE OUT

HEY CHUCK THIS IS NO WAY TO RUN A COMPANY OR TREAT YOUR EMPLOYEES THIS IS COUNTERPRODUCTIVE AND ONLY CAUSES TALENT TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, AMAZON AND GOOGLE DON'T MASSIVELY LAYOFF EMPLOYEES EVERY YEAR LIKE THIS

dividends just come out of the (already deflated) stock price.

dont cut my dividend cause youre lazy and hate that you are going to go find a real job. I kissed butt for years to get those RSUs and forgo 10 vacations a year to buy ESPP, cut my dividend and I will make sure all my 10 million deals go to juniper or HPE.

@zbv... Should have phrased it as core "heavy lifting" from purely moving traffic. Long as a good 95xx core and a few 93xx to support, hang the "intelligence" off of those (other OEM controller stuff, FW, VM farm). "Intelligent Access Layer" getting more and more generic and vendor agnostic. Eye opener for me getting to outside after almost 20 years blue was how much mix-and-match is going on out there, and just getting more mutated.

Where did you learn to design networks? The core doesn’t do the “heavy lifting”. You need an intelligent access layer.

The tough part is that enterprises will keep the older hardware running on it's fringes as long as they can. As long as core is current, smaller locations will use older gear a long, long time. Plus newer players on low end now coming in. Netgear makes a pretty dang good $200 10G POE switch.

Cisco 93xx and 95xx are excellent products. But many customers will just upgrade those and keep the smaller remote sites running with the old stuff and will just keep running it until it finally punts. Which will be a long time because most of the older gear works pretty darn good at just moving packets and if the core does the rest of the heavy stuff.

Cisco can't just flick a switch and it's a technology company. We are essentially Wells Fargo, but sell switches and routers on the side. The people that created the switches and routers are LONG gone.

Just a company filled with psychopaths and ladder climbers now.

"Growing technical talent? We are a sales company focused on stock buybacks. Please tell me where the technical talent is located.

Tesla and Amazon have technical talent, we have layers of politicians & sales people."

agreed, I'm biz person but the company is out of alignment. too much business and not enough tech and you're stuck with 5 years of flat revenue. too much tech and not enough business, you might run out of money. the balance is critical and cisco is off imo

Cisco should consider cutting its dividend temporarily, growing its technical talent, bringing innovation from within and using this cash to avoid layoffs. Laying off employees is not a solution but a temporary patch. Demotivated employees don't produce great products. If Chuck is unable steer the sinking Cisco ship, he should step aside so some else can take the helm and steer it before it goes completely down under. Cisco was a leader in networking but now even this core technology area is led by Amazon and Google. Scary times are yet to come for Cisco if the current trend continues.

Have to agree with OP. Was LR'd and loved Cisco but was constantly on pins and needles. When I finally was LR'd, it was a tough few months of transition but now settled in to new job am very content.

Cisco great company but my Doctor (near campus) has lots of Cisco employees and says anxiety is commonly, commonly seen. Just the nature of the beast.

I wish everyone the best and wish the company gets their act together someday with managing headcount.

High performers at successful companies should not have to worry about ongoing LRs, otherwise they are preoccupied outside of what they really need to be doing.

If you are super anxious, seek medical help. Not worth going through it. If you can't work through it, try something else. Your health is not worth it.

Cisco IT is a mafia with leaders their own network and decide who stays and who laid-off
Performance and IPF are all BS that's why all yearly reviews are stopped to gain the control by managment else it becomes legal issue. HR has no work and even hiring are done by converting the H1 contractors and let go full time employees. GC and citzens are targeted first

why is Cisco committing 100 million to broad social-justice, when they suppose to trim 1 billion.
How id–tic is this?
if they did the right thing, there is no need to commit extra money.

My issue with Cisco is the "we are a family" PR. Cisco is a morally corrupt and unethical corporation that manipulates their employees. For 10 years, the corporation has been quietly laying off full-time employees and replacing them with temp workers.

At least Amazon or Goldman Sachs are a bit more upfront. Both make it very clear they don't care, while Cisco buys PR and "Best Company" rankings.

Post from TheLayoff.com

The original poster was trying to say CSCO LRs occur more frequently than most companies. I agree; LRSs occur even in good economic times with this company. It's a nonstop viscous cycle. It is capitalism, if you don't like it you should find another opportunity.

We are all on a death march to Oct. 7th. Cisco has never been able to manage it's head count properly. There will be an exodus regardless of layoffs. Sinking ship
