Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Raise your hand if you’ve been productive lately!!

Very hard to be productive with all the c-ap hanging over our heads. Covid quarantine was hard enough but then the sh!t hit the fan and XOM has imploded. No more 401k match, no raises, more layoffs coming, rumors regarding pension..... makes it very hard to actually care enough to work at all. Anxiety is off the charts!

The number of layers of management still doing nothing and getting paid is absurd

Haven't had a fully productive day in probably 5 years - since I concluded beyond reasonable doubt its all a charade, theater. Drifting down to 80%, 60%, 40% ... I think I've stabilized to 30% now. Which sets my per hour at 50% of executive level. Can't complain. We are all employed at will, the company's but also ours. Catch me if you can.

Can't bring myself to feel sorry about employees who still own XOM stock. The first rule of retirement investing is diversify - don't bet your retirement in the same place you earn your salary - can't say you weren't warned! In addition XOM stock has underperformed industry and grossly underperformed market for over TEN YEARS! If you still own XOM stock, I have a bridge to sell you. Lastly, if you are management and you get stock for free, well it serves you right, you are responsible for this mess, you should pay it back triple.

Salary and previous experience do not lessen the anxiety and really has nothing to do with it. Don’t try to bully people for feeling this way just because you don’t. Anyone with any sense of empathy would not respond the way you did. Clearly you lack empathy which makes you a pathetic person.

"I'm so unhappy I have to work my a– off to get paid $150K or more a year". World's largest violin playing. I abhor the way management is treating us, but f-ing realize you've had it pretty good at this company.

I’ve been very distracted. It’s been a rough year. A lot of ExxonMobil employees own stock. So on top of COVID, we’re dealing with potential
Job loss and investment losses. I think it’s understandable that people’s productivity is down. The sooner the Corporation announces the next round of cuts, the better. Once people know where they stand, they’ll put their heads down and get back to work.

@kmt+177QYE0j That is just another day in EM.. and when it comes to Performance Assessment.. you won’t be rank better than the supervisors as your success is attributed to their leadership.. so take it easy.. you may be NSI next..

never.. know..

I'm working way more. Mostly to help my team and pick up slack. But I'm angry all the time that the people on the ground are dealing with all of this while management is unaffected and organizing ppt decks.
