AT&T is becoming a bond substitute. The stock will range from $25-$32. The dividend is the only thing propping this company up. $20 billion is dead money committed to dividends and interest payments. Continued re financing of short term debt into long term debt is the mechanism that helps fund dividend payments!!
Here's how AT&T saves money.
Don't give dollar raises to lower management, but grant stock options at $59, at $57 at ? as higher management makes bad decisions, buy c-ap companies, as upper management drives the stock price lower! Now give the "executives" repriced / lower priced options and money for nothing raises.
Then layoff occupational along the way. Tell occupational that they need to learn to program. If they could program they would not be working in a call center or attempting to sell wireless services in a retail store.
All aboard, this company is headed for Bankrupsy.
The stock has been a loser for some time. Just compare it to the S&P 500 over the last 5-10 years. I moved all of my investments out of T as soon as I was able.
dead money=dead company
When the dividend reaches 100%, it'll be time to buy :)
C'mon your getting your news from entertainment TV , CNBC while shtick is sensational business tv.. but very little credence in value of their pundits .
Everyone and there mother knows T should reduce the dividend. But what they don't know if the insight that T accou ting and investment analysts know what that would do to them
Awesome investment Shares in AT&T have declined around 27% year-to-date.
