@bhc+177jKNQt Not true at all, especially if you’re not political.

PO+. 17 YOE. $145k. Grossly underpaid compared to co-workers who do half the work and market.

I was 120K at 2 YOE. Graduated from a master's program and offered 105K, then 110K a few months later (when they were all doing raises), then 120K

Second the 120k at ~10yrs for mid to top performers in EMIT and not just personal experience. Anyone that says otherwise was either:

A-here much longer than 10 yrs and received better raises when they started.
B-high flyers/management

@urv Yikes

Although EM says, “our compensation package is competitive”, 120k all in (because I imagine you don’t get a bonus) with 10 YoE is not competitive by any means.

you must be one of them....Comparing salaries doesn't matter....the salaries are over-inflated if you compare the WORK BEING PERFORMED by those in "leadership" positions.

Renumeration is over-rated.
U must be American, know?

Respect and self-awareness are the pay in EM.
Mostly.

@rvd+177jKNQt - That’s true but my other my other non-SWE friends from non-tech companies still make a comparable salary. So it’s not the end of the world if you break even.

@bhc+177jKNQt - nobody willing leaves for a pay cut, so your data is skewed. When 1000's (maybe 10's of thousands) of IT workers that aren't SWE's (most of EMIT are not software developers) from the oil and gas hit the job market through layoffs, it'll be a bit tougher to command a higher salary.

EMIT salaries are not over-inflated. They are not paid on par with tech and as the previous poster said sometimes less than other non-tech companies. Most in EMIT are engineers just like the their business counterparts. Not sure what part you're viewing as overpaid/over-inflated. It's really annoying and not accurate. You also don't see EMRE or EMIT commenting on how useless other people are without knowing what they do or being familiar with their skillset. Get a new hobby and stop trying to drag people down.

EMIT salaries are about on par with non-tech companies, if not sometimes lower due to bonus/stock programs elsewhere. Haven’t met anyone that left and took a pay cut. Y’all mad lol.

EMIT salaries are so over-inflated, especially those on the "management team". The POs , PMs, managers, "Fellows", etc....all worthless. A—kissing is their only skill.

Waiting for EMIT to get sold off / outsourced .....it's the poster-child for how not to run n IT department.

Wait - checking my info. 180/190.
That's about 5% less than yesterday.
Oh. Sorry. That's what I've lost in my 401K since 2019.
Not my salary. That's private.
Cheeky.

More than they’ll make at their next jobs after exxon, especially the managers.
