Inpats to USA

I am one of the many expats to be uprooted and arrive in Houston. Been coming to EMHC for a month and surprised at how many impats (Canadian & Australian & UK) are working at the campus.

Is EM only Calling US expats back? When are all the high priced expats going home?

@fzc+177ygizB - The lack of diversity in leadership is a common theme across XOM. F&L Global Fuels Marketing is another example, where the leader sheds crocodile tears at every diversity and inclusion zoom meeting. He recently expanded his leadership team. But guess what.....still zero diversity.

We eliminated quite a few people to have expats that were part of a good ole boy group and xom keeps allowing it to go on. I hope someone buys it soon.

As a Canadian I agree with the sentiment but in the opposite direction. Take your covid and send all US expats home! Even better sell IOL and **** Off with your LPS and GRS nonsense

Right.

We have all these white a–ed Western Europeans in F&L Digital. How about more POC?

I know several people who could very easily do the same or a better job. This isn't some stupid quota comment. It's the truth.

We've had comments at town halls, radio talk show, for years about how we don't have a diverse leadership team and we are always told we are trying to change that.

Not much has changed.

And hence we are where we are.

I second that! NO Europeans running our great American company! GO back home and fill the positions with Americans (Texans preferred!) Oh- and enough with female promotion. Females in the workplace is a Globalist ploy to increase the workforce and lower wages. How about men make twice as much (like they used to) and they can afford to have their gorgeous wives stay home and take care of the kids and house! Wake up people!

Agree, the amount of “European accents” in leadership is really quite appalling. What the heck??!! Really?? You can’t find Americans to do those jobs?? BS. Send them to their native country, let’s put good ‘ol fashioned American work ethic, hard work, and ingenuity back in play (you know, the stuff that made exxon what it WAS). It’s up to the CEO to make this happen!!!

@ggs+177ygizB Not exactly. No- they were not expatriated from the US back to their home countries (I don’t think that would happen?) BUT they were expatriated from the US as any US payroll employee would be (I.e. the most expensive). Had they remained on expat status from their home country they would have been cheaper to send on assignment to their current location.

Point is that it is insane take and employee from another country, localize them on US payroll because “we need them here” and then expatriate them from the US ( making it even more expensive). It is not a technical glitch in the system. It is sloppy planning and management

@dci+177ygizB woah! Let me see if I understand this correctly: Youre saying these people are getting paid US salaries on their respective home countries due to a technical oversight in the payroll system? Thats wild. Theyre banking it!

Impats from?
Quoting the OP:
impats (Canadian & Australian & UK)

well - it's natural hierarchy and class understanding.
Those that naturally (whether culturally or neurologically (my vote)) - have the 'commonwealth' thoughts that coincide with the business model of ExxonMobil. Queen on coin.
Re-patting them is not necessary.
They've been patted enough - and now pant and slobber at your side.

@dci+177ygizB, it's not a bad system, it is a corrupt and crony system that allows that to happen. Those on management development get to double dip and triple dip. All you need to do is get on the gravy train, anything is justified and no expense spared after that.

There are a few “impats” around and there are indeed many former impats that have been localized to US payroll. These folks are generally great but are here mainly because the way jobs are structured in the US it is very difficult to get enough proper development experience for many roles.

What is truly head scratching is this: I know of nonUS folks that have been localized onto US payroll and the guess what.... wait for it.... yes! after being localized in the US payroll they were then sent abroad from the US as US expatriates. Let that sink in. How bad do our talent development systems have to be for this to happen?

Not an outsider. Been on the circuit for many years. Just freshly home & wondering why so many Canadian, Australian & UK expats are working at EMHC. especially as so many US EXPATS have been recalled.

A lot of them have been localized to US positions so they are not necessarily expats

Sounds like an outsider fishing for information. No way someone started an expat job a month ago.
