R4 Relocation Timing

What will the timing be for R4 relocations given current office closures / COVID? How have they handled it for previous rounds? I’m based in Houston today and expecting to place into a role in San Ramon, wondering what the company line is going to be given that we’re WFH.

You will be a California employee effective on the date of your offer letter and will begin paying CA state taxes at that time, regardless of whether you have physically moved yet.

We wonder why we have issues at this company. This person is moving up the food chain and going to San Ramon. You would think they are the cream of the crop but by the questions they ask you can see if they have to lead us we are doomed to fail

Well, you need to open your eyes and see how much the covid infection rate is going up. There seems no real treatment on the horizon and no vaccine around. If you go and study a bit the history of vaccine development, clinical trial, side effects and more importantly the impact on younger vs older generation, you will find out that no matter how fast the vaccine becomes a reality, it will take long time to have it on the large population and safly immunize the society. People are refusing to put on mask now, how do you expect them to take vaccine, many would not vaccinate their kids for basic and proven vaccines!

So in reality, to be practical there is no way the offices will be open and people be forced to come to office until next July. If you are a supervisor, then go get some training, just because you can manage certain aspect of business and certain people does not mean you know the virus and vaccine and pace of immunization. Every leading scientist has indicated that for large enough immunization. We need more time and that is Plus 6 months from the day they can approve a vaccine.

I do not think any vaccine will be effective anyhow just like the flue vaccine, instead my hope is on treatments and d–gs that can help you recover, just like the way the president recovered from it.

@kfz, I am a supervisor and the information that you are providing is 100% false and complete speculation. There's no reason for you to be trolling people on this site with fake info. As stated below this employee needs to personally consult with his or her particular supervisor, not some simpleton troll on a layoff site.

Given the Covid situation, no one will be forced to come to office until at earliest July 2021. If you want to move or not it is up to you depending on personal situation and financial criteria ( no state tax in Tx vs potentially higher house prices later next year in the bay area along with possible higher I terest rates).

As indicated talk to your new boss, express your situation and work with him/her on a reasonable timeline to move. It is very unlikely they force you to move before YE 2020.

There should be plenty of apartments becoming available at that over hyped nd over priced, run down apartment complex laughingly called "Luxury Condominiums Reflections" because of the exodus of Indian H1 Visa contractors that has been occuring all year. Only 5 mins leisurely walk to the office in the morning , Trader Joes, across the road.

I am sure they will be flexible but you would need to ask your boss. No one here can answer that question.
