Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Crooked Class Action Potential

Everyone involved in R4 knows how crooked this was, no job descriptions, no incumbent info, nepotism galore. People being slotted early or being blackballed based on last year's PMP. Chevron is truly keeping the wrong people. Business as usual.

Any reference to a particular Green New Deal presidential candidate will get your post deleted. Just like this one. You will read it. You might leave a comment. And then it will be gone. Poof! Just like that.

Speaking of offensive posts, the troll posts are still allowed, and the fictitious stories such as the person below who claims that he successfully sued Chevron in 2016. I can assure you with confidence that the interesting and captivating piece of fiction never happened. If it sounds too good to be true, you can bet it isn't.

Same comment to moderator as @1emx - all my posts to various threads in this forum are deleted after less than a day, likewise absolutely no offensive language. Didn’t have that issue on the Noble forum.

Hey moderator, are we allowed to comment on this thread at all? Just wondering, all my posts are being deleted, no matter how harmless and unoffensive. Thanks again.

Yes, take the severance package. It is a much better deal. Most people who try to sue end up losing in a big way and the lawyers are the only ones who benefit, in fact all of them end up that way from what I've heard, contrary to some of the tales of fiction that are posted here.

I sued the company for laying me off in 2016 and easily won a settlement from Chevron of 4 times my annual pay, and a few other concessions. I signed a 5 year confidentiality agreement, so I cannot disclose the details of the case or what the basis of the suit was. But, I can assure almost anyone who had a good standing in the company for 10 or more years, would stand a very good chance of getting a good settlement award. Just hire an experienced law firm.

Don’t be a fool. Take the money and run. Otherwise prove it, IF you can, but you can’t. You will spend time and money filling your attorneys’ pockets, while the company lawyers have a field day with you.

Take the severance package and be happy. Its a good deal and designed to discourage legal action. I think individuals could win but you need to prove your case. I am older, white, experienced and have the credentials (BS,MS degree )from an accredited SEC school. I decided to take the EOI route. Chevron has changed over the years and I have witnessed the selection process first hand. Its hard to see people from non accredited schools get jobs because of who they know and not what they know. They took the years of experience criteria out of the job descriptions. I heard one PDR explain in a group meeting that his 12 year old learned how to ski quickly and is better than him even though he has skied for 20 years. His analogy was that years of experience really means nothing. That's BS. I have also heard someone say that if we think a female could do the job that we should give her the job over a more experienced male. I guess we have all seen the D&I slogan - She can if we give her a chance. The first thing a new hire at Chevron needs to learn is that life if not fair.

1) Welcome to the oil patch (well, almost all companies run by and employing humans); 2) In the myriad of layoffs in the oil industry, I've never heard of such a class action suit succeeding. Chevron's lawyers (unlike Texaco's) have all the angles covered.

The expectation that one company is going to employ you from cradle to grave disappeared a long time ago. The traits to have nowadays are a sustainable qualification, versatility, a cold nature to others and a sharp self-preservation wit, and resilience - those who cower under their desk hoping no one is going to kick them out won’t last and have a one-way ticket to skid row.

Anyone who is left next week do a cross check of last names. My guess is you’ll find everyone with the nepotistic last names will still be here. There’s no shame.

OP is out on a fool’s errand. He is an ambulance chaser on a lay-off site, which to him is a gold mine. OP views this site like a hospital emergency room full of injured victims. He is making false and unsubstantiated claims and beating an empty drum in the hopes of convincing some of us we are victims and should be his clients.
