Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Is everybody prepared?

I know this will not affect everybody, but that doesn't mean everybody shouldn't have prepared for the possibility. Let's face it, if you don't know the right people or you're not related to anybody here, you can't consider yourself safe. I hope most people realize that and have made sure their ducks are in order ahead of this week.

Why don’t you leave? I am sure for a talent like you every other company will be begging for you on board. Why you are taking other people’s opportunities ? Excuse me, no other recruiters call you back? you can survive fine with just peanut butter jelly and lose some ignorance fat.

I’m irritated by your comments. You have this stupid entitlement mentality. No one owes you a thing.

You make these stupid assumptions about how people are riding the gravy train and preventing you from excelling and they were irresponsible about saving for retirement.

Everyone has different goals in life, not everyone is here for just a paycheck, some people actually work because they enjoy working and get fulfillment out of it.... they don’t want to retire. Secondly, people have setbacks in life (divorce, medical bills, helping extended family (or kids) out in tough times. We are not all on the same path.

So when you demand other retire so you can get your promotion. I say kiss my a$$ and get your a$$ outta here. No one promised you a rose garden.

To the person that posted ‘can retire if LS’. I have 35 years w the company and survived 7 layoffs. I have created 100’s of millions of dollars in value for the company. I have earned the right to chose when i retire. Actually, every employee is GIVEN that right to chose when to leave when they want. Can you really imagine it any other way? Co-workers deciding who should leave based on age? Then what would be the next criteria to push people out until you end up w people who are just like you? Unbelievable post. Just posting this shows how immature, entitled, ignorant of how the adult world works. Grow up and be an adult.

Tired of the people who are saying they "can just retire if LS". You are part of the problem, staying around way too long and blocking opportunities for early and mid career. Perhaps if you retired earlier instead of riding the gravy train and doing absolutely nothing all these years (and you know who you are) we wouldn't be facing such dire layoffs. Most annoying are those who b-tched about getting their EOIs denied in previous events. You always had a choice and shame on you for being greedy and waiting for the big payday when you have more than enough to retire comfortably and your kids are grown, house paid off and everything. You are lazy and entitled. Enjoy your retirement. No one, and I mean no one, will miss you.

Ducks lined up and ready to march into retirement if that is the case.
