Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Is it like this everywhere?

I started at my club a week ago - and have ABSOLUTELY no idea what I’m doing. I expected some type of mediocre training and was disgusted that it was even less than that! I feel like I’m out of my element and worse I’ve got good 5 years in the industry. I try to shadow a coworker when I’m told to, but when I ask questions I get nothing but silence or better yet - half assed explanations on work procedures that don't help at all. Now I’m just wondering if this is common in most clubs and if I made a mistake working here.

I feel so bad for the new associates. I would love to take the time and train them as best I can, but we’re so overworked that we don’t have the time to do anything but keep packing or zoning; and that’s between helping in the back room or doing audits and such. We can have new associates shadow us, but the few long term people we have are getting pulled in every direction every five minutes so there’s no time to really show them expectations. Long story short, I don’t except the new people to last more than a couple weeks; and I don’t blame them for leaving

Training is laughable. Example: cashiers working the desk. What a joke. You need experienced, train, associates to work the desk. Some returns can become quite complicated. Use to get an extra dollar an hour to work the desk. Not any more. The mistakes made are costly and the company deserves it for being so stupid.

Yes you made a horrible decision to come work for this company. Theres no training because no one cares . Morale is at all time low. Sure you got your few that love the company and think they are going to set it on fire but those are the dumb–ses.

My former Brother in law would brag about getting 50k. He's a loud mouth and never believed him but if it's true, then I guess he better be great at saving because based on these comments, he'll either sink of swim in the future.

Even if you get training soon enough they look around at others and see them doing nothing and soon after that they start doing the same thing. It's like a merry go round to nowhere, such a joke. I worked in the Bakery and I can remember the team lead at the time yell at me to start filling the racks, well excuse me I had no idea were things went or how there system even worked. She was such a rude rude person thank god she got another job right after I started or else I would have been gone and that was 24 years ago. So nothing has changed even after all these years!!!

Thats cause anyone whos been there a while has learned to not train people , because we've seen time and time again. Associate ( A ) who been there for years, Trains Associate (B), who just got hired.
Associate (B) now appears competent after some training. Associate (A) Starts getting unwarranted random write ups and warnings and eventually terminated. Associate (B) who you've trained becomes Associate (A) now.
