Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

I hope we'll all know today

This has dragged on for far too long. It's affecting our productivity (which, frankly, I don't care about since Chevron did that to itself) and our mental and emotional health, which is the important thing. The sooner we get it over with, the better. I can't understand people who are praying for the notifications to be postponed. What exactly are you gaining with that?

I found out through a rumor that I was going to be left standing so I immediately went to workspace and declared I was now g– and I now identify as black.

Then after that I got a phone call saying I was being promoted. I’m not sh!tting you. Try it, it works. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I found out yesterday, Monday, that I was safe and two of my coworkers were left standing but were not contacted yet.

Every announced Layoff has been the same it takes 6 months to go thru the process. This one is no different. In some ways its actually a good thing because we know the timing and can plan our personal budgets in advance and take steps to change our spending patterns and also for another job, put the house on the market if need be. I prefer this to the alternative which would be 2 weeks notice and out the door at most other companies. Be grateful for what you are getting!

At least we are getting notified this week. My friend in HR said they won't know until next week. Typical HR, I guess.

The later it gets, the higher the liklihood of bad news as chicken-xxit leaders dread making unpleasant calls and put them off.

Many of us found out yesterday or last week, so there's that. Toughen up snoflake. The world doesn't revolve around your feelings, and layoffs are routine and extremely common in Oil & Gas and many other industries.

Let it take another whole year if Chevron wants to drag things out further. I’m milking this cow for as long as it takes. Keep paying me to be unproductive at home. This process, and frankly the past 5 years at Chevron, have been a demoralizing experience. At this stage I can’t care less.

Completely agree my mental health has taken a nosedive and it's Chevron's fault.

Yes, this has dragged out for almost as long as you have been dragging your knuckles, OP, which is crystal clear from the content of your post.
