Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Which system to keep

Husky has more mature and efficient systems in most business functions, so who's system are we actually going to keep. I'm not holding my breath that is ours in this case.

I would personally educate myself on job search software and EI application software. Trust me the ERP and SAP rollout projects at both companies were dissasters and most involved were or will be sent packing. You don't always get what you pay for and i think the Cenovus SAP project is and always will be that. Smoke and mirrors from SAP consultants and upper management trying to keep their jobs. These programs cost huge money in our current environment and it don't make sense to spend that kind of money right now because what does it really do. It looks different than the last company system but offers less functionality and value then the companies previous system. Ask any field personel how that helps them currently. My suggestion is try being honest atleast with yourself and tell the truth. If the company and upper management continue with not wanting anyone telling the truth about how much these systems ultimately cost and the little value that these systems bring; than your better off tearing that bandaid off right now; otherwise your just another sell out. Most of us see it but few us act on it. Don't let this merger oppurtunity pass you by, take a stand for yourself and don't wait for your layoff papers or forced firings. Find a new job elsewhere, they are out there. The oligargy wants you to keep believing that they are the best employer and the only employer. They have said the samething since 2014 to the many thousands of great guys and gals that they already dismissed. Remember class isn't this companies greatest attribute but it can be yours.

The system that hires the new grads, and lays off older deadwood employees that cannot keep up with technological advances like SAP but make almost $100,000

CVE has expensive consultants and deep thinkers developing the rollout of SAP to replace the old system so yeah makes sense Newco finance will be husky finance already on sap not the other way around. And bye bye to the consultants.

Yes they have great systems. That just led to a 900 cubic meter spill.

Whichever one is more expensive will be the one they use, they'll sell it as more cost effective in the long run but it won't be.

Are you kidding? The CVE way is to adopt something, prefereably sold by a spouse or cousin and then switch to the latest shiny pony in a couple years when it seems it was maybe a bad choice. Lots of promotions and bonuses involved of course for the VP spearheading the new initiative.

If you are referring to ERP systems, at Husky we're on the latest, greatest iteration of SAP (S/4). I've heard CVE is still using the old JD Edwards system. They'll keep SAP S/4.
