Modifying a saying in the movie Wall Street, "T is a dog with fleas." Over ten years as of 10/31/2021 it's down 7.69%. S&P 500 over the same period was up 166.75%. Sure the dividend is 7.7% but after the current annualized rate of inflation of 1.37%, that leaves 6.33%. And after taxing out income taxes (if holding in a non-IRA) you'd be down another 24% or so leaving (6.33 - (6.33 x 24%)) which is 4.81%. With the current S&P 500 dividend at 1.80%, your yield is now down to 3%. And then you can hold the S&P in a mutual fund with no buying commissions. T purchased on the open market reduces your 3% even more. For long term investing, stocks that have gains is much better than dividend stocks.

I would never buy att stock. bought so many others in the last 20 years and it has paid off. In the millions now and going to keep going. best thing I did was to get out of att stock.

Dummies brag about the dividend. But they should have put their money in Apple, Google, Facebook, Microsoft or Amazon 15 years ago and they would be far, far, far more wealthy now... In business 101, holding onto T stock is called LOST OPPORTUNITY! S—ers!

There are mo–ns that will say this is a great buying opportunity. The AT&T of the past is not the AT&T of the future. Divis will have to be cut. It will happen. Meanwhile I’ll continue with the put options and make money.

It seems AT&T employment has generated more wealth - at all levels of the organization - in the last decade than has AT&T stock to non-employees.

While AT&T is at a long time low, it still has total annual return of almost 6% over last 10 years - significantly lagging S&P 500 - not great, but better than pension returns (I've got one!) and much better than money market returns.

AT&T stock will rebound. AT&T will be continuing to make folks rich over the next decade - as it has me over the last 3 decades.

If I am right or wrong, thanks for the ride!
